There is no one around. It’s winter and everything is calm on the water. We tie up at a remote island with not another boat in sight, explore on foot, follow mysterious mole tunnels, and enjoy the kind of peaceful cruising you only get in the colder months. From there we continue through a series of deep locks and high bridges before arriving in Willemstad, a fortified star‑shaped city that looks like something from a storybook.
