Engine failure at sea!! We had to be towed in!

Hi everyone. In this episode we sailing our Snapdragon 24 from Caernarfon up past Port Dinorwic/Felinheli as far as Britannia Bridge. On the way back though our engine failed and we have a bit of drama getting back into safe waters in high winds and big swell - for us anyway....... We are Andy, Melissa and Jack, a sailing family based in North Wales, looking for a bluewater sailing yacht to take us around the world. We currently have a very small 24ft Snapdragon Sailing yacht based in Caernarfon but there are bigger boats on the horizon. In this episode we sail up the beautiful Menai Straits, from the historic town of Caernarfon with it's magnificent castle all the way to Britannia Bridge, built by Robert Stevenson. Things were all going well until the gearbox on our engine died on the return journey. Of course we had an auxiliary but by this time the swell had increased and the prop on the auxiliary engine was coming out of the water and cavitating making it useless, and because the wind was coming from precisely the direction we wished to go we were in a bit of a pickle. We had a choice of either turn down wind and negotiate the infamous Swellies between the bridges and pick up a morning in Menai bridge under sail, or to ask for help. So we asked for help and a nearby fishing boat towed us into Feliinheli Marina.
