Diving Tuhua Reef, Mayor Island, Native NZ Forest, Sharks, Crayfish, Dolphins. Vlog 91
As promised we finally got back on Nikau to have some NZ summer adventures! In this episode we explore beautiful Mayor Island only 21 nautical miles from the city of Tauranga (where we are keeping Nikau). Mayor Island not only has beautiful clear water and amazing fish life but also has the largest forest of pohutakawa trees in NZ. Pohutakawa are found all over NZ's coastline and are commonly called NZ's Christmas tree as they have red flowers in December. We managed to get in two amazing dives, nab some crayfish for lunch, spear some fish and were visited by some overly 'friendly' sharks while filleting our fish - NZ sharks are much bigger than the reef sharks in the Pacific! We hope you enjoy following us on our adventures! We would love to hear from you. Thanks and enjoy.
