BREAKING hydrovane - pushing vessel TO THE LIMIT! | Ep 86 | Sailing Merewether

This week we start sailing to the Tuamotu islands, and it’s a race with our two friends to make the slack tide of the atoll in Raroia. Sailing with two other boats that are both faster then Merewether, we have to push her to the max to keep up. This makes for an uncomfortable sail. The constant splash from the ocean and the banging of the boat as she heads into it almost breaks more then just our spirits. Our beloved hydrovane gets a good beating when the wind hits 32 knots and is about to snap off. Tensions are high. After the three day race we finally see the atoll. Lining up the entry to the pass, it has to be passed during slack tide due to the rushing current all other times. Kieran is loving life, almost flooring the throttle but only moving 1.5 knots.
