Brac vs Solta Island Fight (Tugging of Mrduja): Local Stories Ep 25

Every year, the Islands of Solta and Brac come together to settle an ancient feud, by fighting for the small island of Mrduja in a fierce tug-of-war battle. This centuries-long dispute between the Dalmatian Islands of Brač and Šolta is over the small island of Mrduja that sits in the middle of these two larger islands. Residents of each island have been arguing for hundreds of years about who Mrduja belongs to, which created the idea of a 'tug-of-war' to see who the island belongs to each year! Annually, fishermen, sailors and residents from each island gather to take part in the tugging of Mrduja. The event involves celebrations, food, drinks, and of course, bragging rights for the winner!
