At Home Kid's Activity: Increase in CO2 Causes Acidic Oceans | Sailors for the Sea Powered by Oceana
Increased atmospheric carbon dioxide (CO2) can cause changes in the chemistry of the ocean. The ocean absorbs about a quarter of the CO2 humans release into the atmosphere every year, and this additional CO2 in seawater is causing the ocean to become more acidic. In this fun, at home science activity, kids can use their own exhaled breath and a red cabbage pH indicator to see how our oceans are becoming more acidic.
