AON 2023 Etchells World Championship - Monday

Welcome to the AON 2023 ETCHELLS WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP, hosted by Etchells Fleet 20 Biscayne Bay, Biscayne Bay Yacht Club, Coral Reef Yacht Club and Shake-A-Leg Miami. 63 boats from 9 countries were greeted with the Zhyk opening ceremony last evening, complete with Bacardi Rum bar a welcome speeches from Chris Lanza, one of the co-chairs of the event and Harry Horgan, the president of Shake a Leg. After months of preparation, practice, and rigorous measurement process teams arrived this Monday morning to make last-minute repairs and tweaks to their boats and report in to the competitors briefing, complete with weather and current information from weather with guru Chelsea Freas. Her report on the approaching cold front was foreshadowing of the announcement to come. Minutes later, PRO Dave Brennan, after much deliberation with his team, decided the chances of extreme thunderstorms and waterspouts was too high and cancelled racing for the day.
