We did a shoutout to a special, potential intern: https://www.instagram.com/p/CcWVEITvo7q/ Spread the word on IG and FB! If you applied last week, we'll be in touch soon. Centerline blocking does one big, important thing, and it's something that's barely noticed below decks: it adds rigidity between deckbeams along the center of the deck structure fore and aft on any boat. A nice, tight fit that's pleasing to the eye from the interior of the boat is preferred, and the rabbets into which these pieces of wood fit, when regularly and lovingly executed, are barely noticed when they're done right. KP nails it. They're finished with TotalBoat Varnish Primer and TotalBoat Gleam 2.0. Links are below. Some of what makes this boat shed special is the lumber we have access to. It's not like the dimensional lumber that KP has been able to order up in the past from the parts person at the yard they worked for, and we get their take on what it's like to start every project with a bit of milling from some extremely raw stock that's been out to dry for the last few years as it waits for its place on the boat. We get some trout delivered by an avid neighborhood fisherman, and Akiva gets one of his many spring groomings (which now Aaron is pleased to execute on a regular basis since the weather has changed), and an Adventure Cart is realized. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sign up for our email newsletter: http://eepurl.com/hn3Qyv Acorn to Arabella is a boat building project taking place in Granby, Massachusetts. Steve started as an amateur boat builder building a 38' wooden boat in his backyard: designer William Atkin's Ingrid with a Stormy Petrel's gaff rig. These videos follow the journey from tree felling, to lumber milling, to lofting, to the lead keel pour and beyond—sharing details of the woodworking, carpentry, metal smithing, tool building, and tool maintenance that wooden boats command. This ultimate DIY project will continue well past launch, when he and the crew will travel and learn to cruise aboard the boat that they've built. Just kidding about all that, this channel is about a Siberian Laika named Akiva. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If you are interested in supporting/helping here are a few ways: https://www.acorntoarabella.com/how-to-help Acorn to Arabella's wishlist: https://www.acorntoarabella.com/wishlistpriority TotalBoat Referral: Need something TotalBoat sells?
