75 - Sailing Across Fiji... With Hitchhikers!

Usually Amy and I do our passages with just the two of us, but this time, we had some hitchhikers! Alifereti and Koroi, two villagers from Fulanga needed a ride to Suva for a conference so we offered to drop them off as we sailed to the west side of Viti Levu. This passage was a slight logistical challenge, with lots of islands in the way and light winds that shifted direction halfway through. My planning skills were put to the test and we got to try a few new sail combinations, including our spinnaker, which is always fun! But I think the biggest highlight of the trip was the GIANT Mahi-Mahi we caught. I was super glad to have some help reeling it in! All too soon we arrived in Suva and had to say goodbye to our new friends. We elected to stay for one night in order to fuel up and do some provisioning and then it was off for one more night around to Musket Cove. That brought us one step closer to Amy's family!
