398: We Weren’t Ready for This Passage… and Aitutaki Wasn’t Ready for Us | Maupiha’a to Aitutaki

In this episode, we make the unexpected decision to leave Maupiha’a after less than a day and head for Aitutaki, crossing the remote stretch of the South Pacific known as “The Dangerous Middle” to revisit a place we last saw 13 years ago. But our sudden departure meant we were far from ready. During the three-day passage, we scrambled to process all of our fresh food, complete paperwork, navigate a skinny pass entrance, and med-moor in a muddy, coral-lined marina still under construction — on an island that wasn’t quite ready for its first boats of the season.
