100-Year-Old Mahogany Trim - Episode 175 - Acorn to Arabella: Journey of a Wooden Boat

In the past, we've had a look in the garage at the piles, en masse, of the mahogany lumber that came out of Victoria, but this week's video goes through a pretty extensive and specific inventory of what we have to play with for reclaimed wood as we put the interior together. Carolyn patterns a partial bulkhead, while Steve gets to finishing the bulkhead that defines the forepeak. This is one of the first times in a long time where 90 degree angles have come into play, as the trim for the passage to the forepeak comes together. Finish work, meaning sanding and applying coatings, is satisfying for so many reasons. You'll be seeing us do a lot of sanding, painting, and varnishing, slowly revealing the beautiful patterns of once-thirsty, glowing grain.
