This week we have a mechanic come and do some tests on the old Perkins motor we have. This is a big deal as what he says will determine if we are going to repower. That would mean lots of money and weeks in a yard, so we are nervous to see what he has to say. Monaco dahling? I’d rather be sailing! Sailing further east from Antibes we waited for a weather window to cross back to Corsica and found ourselves in Monaco, known the world over as the playground of the rich and famous. We dipped our toes into this tiny but exclusive and expensive country and watched the weather. Instead of the hoped for northerlies to blow us across to Corsica, the forecast grew into a far reaching mistral but the marina had no space for us to stay! After finding what we hoped would be a protected anchorage we crossed our fingers…. Once the mistral passed we regrouped back in Monaco before deciding to abandon our Corsican plans and start heading west and enjoyed some fantastic sailing en route to Toulon…. Depuis des milliers d’années, les Inuit et leurs ancêtres vivent en harmonie avec la nature, sur les côtes, face à la mer. Ils vivent dans une des régions les plus isolées et sauvages du monde, l’Arctique. À la suite d'une tour du monde en famille je rêvais de naviguer entre les glaces et icebergs du Groenland et de l'Arctique, de franchir le passage du Nord-Ouest. Nous sommes Claire Roberge et Guy Lavoie vidéastes, formateurs et conférenciers. Notre voilier Balthazar est un dériveur intégral en acier construit par nous en collaboration avec un chantier professionnel à Montréal au Québec. Après 18 ans de voyage, une quarantaine de pays visités et plus de 40 000 milles nautiques parcourus en famille ou en couple, après un tour du monde par trois océans et un grand périple nordique avec, il faut le dire, de rares moments difficiles, mais surtout avec des rencontres et des expériences extraordinaires, nous avons l’envie de partager en toute simplicité ce bagage qui est le nôtre.
