So we did it!! We crossed the Gulf of Mexico again! This time apon arriving into Pensacola Florida we came across the daunting truth that the virus that was in China when we left Texas is now a full blown pandemic and the entire world is shutting down. We decided it was best to keep moving and keep our distance at sea instead of increasing our chances by sticking close to land. The 628-nautical mile adventure continues down the east coast of Tasmania to Storm Bay where it turns and heads towards the Derwent River for the final stretch to the finish. Wild Oats XI took line honours for a record ninth time, holding off three other Super Maxis in one of the tightest finishes in race history, while Tasmanian entry Alive was overall Tattersall Cup winner on handicap.
