We really struggle with applying fibreglass to the underside of things, especially when the shapes are awkward and space is tight. Die Reise beginnt in Rom/Fiumicino – und führt schon bald hinaus aus dem Trubel, hinein in eine grenzenlose Welt, in der Natur und Freiheit den Takt vorgeben. Wochenlang ist man hautnah an Bord der „Abyss“ dabei – fernab von Häfen, Zeitplänen und überlaufenen Hotspots. Stattdessen prägt meine besondere Herangehensweise den Törn: das „Taktieren“. Eine Art des Reisens, die es ermöglicht, sich frei, unabhängig und im Einklang mit Wind, Wetter und Natur zu bewegen. Die Route führt entlang der wilden Küsten des Nordens von Sardinien – dorthin, wo ursprüngliche Landschaften und einsame Ankerplätze noch zu finden sind. Der Film zeigt eindrucksvoll, dass es auch heute noch möglich ist, jenseits der Massen unterwegs zu sein – wenn man bereit ist, sich anzupassen und neue Wege zu gehen. Ob bei Starkwind, herausfordernden Bedingungen oder stillen Nächten vor Anker: Statt langweilige Häfen steht das unmittelbare Erleben im Vordergrund. Man taucht mit ab – etwa zum Ankercheck auf 11 Meter Tiefe – und bekommt seltene Einblicke in das Zusammenspiel von Boot, Mensch und Naturgewalten. Unter Wasser eröffnet sich eine weitere Ebene der Reise: Neben faszinierenden Bildern wird auch die fragile Seite des Mittelmeeres sichtbar. Veränderungen, die oft verborgen bleiben, treten hier in den Fokus – leise, aber eindringlich. „Geht nicht, gibt’s nicht“ – mit diesem Anspruch wird improvisiert, repariert und weitergesegelt. Autarkie ist hier kein Konzept, sondern gelebter Alltag. Und trotz aller Abgeschiedenheit bleibt Raum für Begegnungen: mit Menschen, Landschaften und besonderen Momenten, die den Film tragen. Über zwei Jahre hinweg entstanden, begleitet der Film ein Projekt, das sich auch durch äußere Umstände nicht aufhalten ließ – und dabei immer wieder neue Perspektiven eröffnet. Erstaunlich, wie viel Leben auf 28 Fuß Platz findet: Tauchkompressor, mehrere Tauchausrüstungen, Kamera-Equipment, Beiboot – und immer wieder auch Familie. My final UK event before heading back to Greece — and what a way to finish! This aquabike (400m swim + 22km bike) pushed me hard, especially battling a strong headwind on the ride. Despite that, I came away with a result I’m really proud of — including 🥇 1st in my age group. Considering that back in October I couldn’t have done any of this, it really shows how far things have come. ‘Wilyali’ is a 2022 Hanse 418 listed exclusively for sale with YOTI on Pittwater. https://www.yoti.com.au/listing/hanse-418-wilyali-1 This is a yacht presenting in near new condition and boasts a huge list of both factory and local extras. She is comfortably the highest specified Hanse we have seen in any 40 foot model. ‘Wilyali’ is the two cabin / single head option. There is a full boat cover plus full cockpit covers (dodger with screen, bimini with infill and even side wings). The engine has only logged around 140 hours. This is a vessel which will appeal to those considering a new purchase without dealing with the build and wait times, and importantly without the time and effort to fit out a cruising vessel to a very high level.
