Near the town of Karlovasi on Samos, we discovered a small chapel called Agios Nikolaos Chapel. It is often used for weddings because of its picturesque location on a cliff, overlooking the sunset. We parked our bikes and took a look inside the small chapel. We also regularly come across the name “Agios Nikolaos” during our travels through Greece; it refers to Saint Nicholas, the patron saint of sailors.

This one tested us 😅 We took on the steep and slippery climb up Isabel de Torres in Puerto Plata—and it was no joke. Muddy trails, sketchy footing, and a serious leg burn… but the view at the top made every step worth it. Sitting above the city with a mini botanical garden and that iconic statue, it’s one of the most rewarding hikes we’ve done in the Dominican Republic. We made it down just before sunset and headed into historic downtown Puerto Plata for dinner, soaking in the colorful streets as well as umbrellas and local vibes. Back in Luperón, the adventure didn’t stop. We explored Playa Chiquita with unique wooden sculptures, and hiked out to a hidden blowhole and coastal cliffs—one of those wild, off-the-beaten-path spots we love. Then it was time to check out of Luperón… and get ready for what’s next. This is part 6 of a step-by-step build of a B&B Yacht Designs Spindrift 10 nesting dinghy, following the guidance from the build instructions. This video focuses on installing the locker hatches, a unique way of attaching gunwale protectors as well as an ingenious approach to making the sections watertight! I purchased the pre-cut "kit" to save some time, but the same results can be accomplished by purchasing the build instructions and cutting your own marine-grade plywood. This video is for those who are looking to build their own dinghy, and who wish to learn more about the process. This is the second project Brent and I worked on together, the previous being a 7' pram for Brent.
