Machine Vision Enhances Situational Awareness Nick discussed the company's use of machine vision technology to enhance situational awareness at sea, complementing AIS and radar technologies. The company has over 600 systems in the field and a database of 18 million annotated marine objects. They are integrating with radar to control camera views and have tight integration with Time 0. The company offers various products, including the Cai Sentry for motor yachts, the Cai Offshore for blue water sailors, the SEA.ai Competition for ocean racing, and the SEA.ai Brain for running AI detections on 3rd party thermal cameras. The SEA.ai Sentry features electronic zoom, electronic and mechanical image stabilization, AI-based target tracking, intelligent alarms, and four key functions: object detection, target tracking, collision avoidance, and perimeter surveillance. The company's products can detect objects up to 7,500 meters away and require a minimum mounting height of 15 feet above the water surface. Mounting Height and System Integration Nick discussed the importance of mounting height for better accuracy and detection distance in their system. He showcased various demo clips, including daytime and nighttime views, auto tracking, and collision avoidance features. He also highlighted the ability to select distances for warning versus danger and the memory built into the camera for target tracking. Nick further explained the integration of radar with the pan tilt zoom, enabling visual verification and target classification. He also mentioned the ongoing validation of third-party cameras, including Flir and Axis, and the future integration of distance estimation into the system. AI Detections on Thermal Cameras Nick demonstrated the use of AI detections on a thermal camera, highlighting its ability to detect and classify various objects, including whales. He explained that the camera technology is old but has been innovated in the traditional CCTV industry, and they are bringing this technology to the marine industry. Nick also mentioned that they are working on integrating their product with other marine navigation tools like Proteus, which uses AI to display data from current systems. Chris and Captain discussed the potential of using the AI system for tracking long lines and recording incidents, with Nick confirming that the system can be integrated with onboard NVRs for extended recording. Digital from Digital Yacht presented new concepts and products, including Nordlink, One Fix, and a new maneuverable product, and discussed the integration of various technologies into their maritime platform. Nick presented new products, including a GPS system, a man-overboard solution, and a synthetic position report, and offered a 20% discount for the " Posse" team. Next steps • Digital Yacht to launch new products at Dusseldorf Boat Show and Miami Boat Show in February. • Ocean Posse members to use coupon code "posse20" for 20% discount on Digital Yacht products. • Digital Yacht to make the Nord Cloud platform available for third-party app developers. • Captain to distribute the recorded meeting to Ocean Posse participants. • Digital Yacht to ensure the "posse20" coupon code is working on their websites by early next week. The Nild Cloud enables applications for monitoring, alerting, control, and historical analysis. Digital also mentioned a partnership with VM, a New York startup founded by the original founder of MongoDB. Integrating Tech for Maritime Efficiency Digital discussed the integration of various technologies, including the Internet of Things, robotics, and AI, into their maritime platform. They highlighted the collaboration with a significant technology business, which has been helpful in standardizing NMEA 2000 data and incorporating low-cost sensors. Digital also introduced a new app called Anchor Smart, which uses AI and cloud technology to monitor and alert users about potential boat dragging and weather changes. The app is designed to provide a more efficient and accurate anchoring experience. New Technologies and GNSS Integration Digital discussed the integration of new technologies into their platform, including a product called Boat Vault that logs and stores data for boats. They also introduced a new GNSS product that operates with GPS, Galileo, Beidu, and NavIC, offering sub-meter accuracy and fast updates. The new device is designed to be more resistant to interference and can block certain satellite constellations for comparison. Digital encouraged third-party app development and expressed excitement for the upcoming launch of their cloud platform at Miami. New Products for Boats and MOB Digital discussed new products for boats, including a high precision GPS/GNSS product that connects to various systems and offers voyage data recording. They also introduced a man overboard (MOB) product called MOB Alert, which connects to the boat's NMEA 2000 network and synthesizes the MOB beacon alert. This product is more affordable than traditional MOB beacons and can be used in conjunction with AIS targets. Digital also mentioned the possibility of adding extra switches for larger boats and using the outboard kill cord switch as a method of activating the manual report alarm. The Royal Malta Yacht Club’s Tommy Hilfiger Figure of 8 Race served up a tactical test for sailors on Saturday 12th April , with both fully crewed and short-handed teams lining up for the coastal challenge. This year’s edition took competitors on a southbound route around the Maltese Islands, with conditions demanding resilience and precision sailing.
