PG caught up with @colinwilcox7079 from Sacs Marine Australia at the Sydney International Boat Show. Chatting all things Gyro and quality Italian marine accessories. Colin has been a longtime Gineico Marine client, even from back in his days at Sunseeker. I’m here with my good friend Colin, who I’ve known for over 20 years. Colin is the face of Sacs in Australia, representing the stunning Italian-built rigid hull inflatable boats. Before that, he was at Sunseeker Australia, and over the years, we’ve worked together across water makers, gyroscopic stabilizers, chairs, tables, and more. At Gineico, we work with 28 Italian suppliers, and many boats, including Sacs, feature our equipment. When clients ask about after-sales service and technical support, Colin praises our responsiveness, saying it’s far superior to waiting for factory support overseas. Colin shared that Sacs now offers Quick gyroscopic stabilizers as an option for boats 15 meters and above. Why? Because of Quick’s superior design, including air cooling (no skin fittings or saltwater cooling), compact size (perfect for tight engine rooms), and unmatched performance. Quick is the only gyro in the world that can run at any speed without affecting the bow ride—essential for the high-speed, airborne runs Sacs boats often make. Thanks, Colin, for the kind words and partnership. Here’s to a great show and more success for Sacs in Australia! Contact the team at Gineico and they will advise what size gyro will best suit your boat. 👉 Book a sea trial today....https://www.gineicomarine.com.au/book... Finally, after 18 months of sitting on our hands waiting for some semblance of 'normal' to return to the world - Spartan Ocean Racing is ready to get back on the water and start sailing! Personally, I am hugely excited by the realization that we can now start to dream a little and start to plan some awesome sailing for 2022 and beyond. Uppermost in my mind is the fact that the new schedule of events for Spartan is VERY LIGHT on racing events and much more focused on seamanship training, voyaging and visiting interesting ports & countries. This draws Spartan 100% closer to the ideals that started the company and grants me the opportunity to stop judging the success of an event on the position logged in the race and instead look towards providing the best possible offshore training for those who are excited to be on the water and learn. The BIG EVENT however, that this new schedule works its way up to is the Ocean Globe Race in 2023 where YOU can join us in this unique opportunity to race a pedigree offshore race boat in a serious ROUND THE WORLD RACE. So, get over to the website www.spartanoceanracing.com (http://www.spartanoceanracing.com) and see for yourself what you could be doing 2 years from now! Just before you go.... Whilst the voyage its' self was not very eventful (just the way I like them!) there was lots to consider as this was effectively my first passage with a new (to me) vessel.  Just before you go.... This episode I announce the winners of the Patreon prize draw which gives three lucky listeners the opportunity to join me on board one of our race boats in the next year to compete in either a major race, regatta or transatlantic event!  After that we get into the main subject of this episode - man overboard.  I take you in depth through the procedure I have been taught and now teach to recover someone from the water with the emphasis being on making each stage understandable and transparently logical as part of an overarching strategy to recover the victim before they succumb to hypothermia or drowning. Jane took over the saloon today so that she could tackle insulating the starboard size, normally hidden behind the settee back, which we use as a "storage" dumping ground. This is the first layer of insulation designed to move the condensation point away from the hull. Between the stringers (which are foam surrounded by fibregalsss) we will have 40mm of xps sheet. They will be airtight sealed at the edges so it shouldn't matter that there will be an air gap between the foil backed foam and the fairly rigid xps. The xps will be held in place by 100mm plywood strips screwed to the stringers. There will be a narrow timber strip on the outside so that the screws don't punch through the thin plywood. We are painting the xps and the ply will be painted in a contrasting colour. You can see this in our top 10 interior changes video (set as the related video). We are now living aboard our Rival 38 Centre Cockpit full-time while finishing a refit so we can launch ASAP. We have a frequently updated blog at https://sustainablesailing.net with membership options and a weekly newsletter at £2 per month for Early Bird Supporters. Our free Sustainable Sailing book is at: https://sustainablesailing.codeberg.page/ Or visit our shop at https://sustainablesailing.teemill.com/ for great hoodies, t-shirts and bags. When we bought Vida in August 2019 she was in a very tired and damp condition with all original equipment and fittings (much of it not working). We have removed all the gas, diesel and paraffin equipment, and are installing all-electric (motor, cooking etc). PAPA Regatta 2018 took place in the scenic coastal town of Marmaris, located in Turkey’s Muğla Province, during late April and early May. The event brought together 80 passionate sailors from Russia and Ukraine, who competed across 10 yachts in a spirited and challenging series of races. This video captures the experience from the inside — through the eyes of the crew aboard the high-performance racing yacht Steve Wonder 2, provided by the charter company SK Yachting. Designed for speed and agility, the yacht performed exceptionally well even in light wind conditions. Its enormous sail area and precision wind-tracking instruments allowed it to hold sharp upwind courses, getting as close as 15 degrees to the wind — a rare capability in competitive sailing. Due to its high handicap rating, the crew had to finish at least 40 minutes ahead of the fleet to win — a goal that proved difficult in such a highly competitive environment. As a result, the team secured only second place overall. We extend our gratitude to the creators of the video — the production team at Visuals @visuals6785, the Sea School Finist @seaschool4738 for their dedication to sailing mastery, and @SKYachting for providing an exceptional racing yacht that made this journey unforgettable. #PAPARegatta #PAPARegatta2018 #ArtOfSailing #Yachting #Sailing #VisualsArt #SeaSchoolFinist #SKYachting
