Let's do this! It's time to start the rebuild of our Salvaged Beneteau Sailboat. With several hundred pounds of supplies from Raka.com we're armed with what we need to get the job done. Thanks for watching- With love The Evans' Audible Audibletrial.com/expeditionevans Blog expeditionevans.com/post/the-fiberglass **************************************** *Our Boat* 2008 Beneteau 49 3 cabin 2 head 4JH4-TE Westerbeke generator Mast, sails and rig are in excellent condition and in storage Here's what we *think* we know about her past. Keep in mind we bought her at auction without ever meeting the owner! The owner was sailing along and ran aground - hard. Hard enough that the keel pivoted and pushed the aft end up into the hull. This force cracked the internal grid in several places and broke a portion of the grid free from hull. At some point an inspection was done, insurance was called and decisions were made. We're trying something new! Springing off a dock is always nerve wracking, especially in a brand new boat. We show you how we go in this week's episode. Sailing the Australian coastline is way more challenging than we'd thought- we really did expect a calm, stress free experience, especially since we're onboard a comfy Seawind catamaran! But no- the coastline and the weather keep us on our toes as we leave Hamilton Island in the Whitsundays and head for a more isolated and peaceful retreat. Thanks for watching! We love a good challenge, but totally UNDERESTIMATED what we signed up for when we purchased this run-down Airstream trailer with the vision to convert it into our DREAM tiny home on wheels! 🚌 With a recent eviction notice, we had just 60 days to make this Airstream tiny home move-in-ready ⏲ Join James this episode as he crushes some solo projects, including the dreaded toilet takeout, followed by 22 HOURS OF CONTINUOUS SANDING! 😅 (the 2 minutes we've edited into this video does not do the enormity of this task justice). WHAT A SAINT! 🙏 No joke. It took 3 whole days to sand 53 years of paint and crud off of the Airstream's interior, a necessary step to ensure that new primer & paint would stick to the vinyl wraps (the plastic coating also known as the 'skins' which line the Airstream's interior walls). We had done our research and we were familiar with the first steps involved in restoring an old airstream trailer: Demolition - Cleaning - Sanding - Priming - Painting - all before we could get started with rebuilding! Airstream-reno guru's will tell you that a 'full' Airstream restoration would have looked like us taking 'the skins' off, but as we explain in this episode that just wasn't an option for us this time around. We just didn't have the time or the space to complete that sort of restoration. We made it work! Using the existing holes in the walls we could thread new electrical underneath the vinyl wraps so that we could actually have an outlet in the wall! 🔌Brilliant?! After a long work week, I join James later in the episode to tag team the rest of our tiny home to-do list (new sub-floor, paint scraping, patching), before finally transforming the Airstream with a beautiful coat of white paint! 🖌 AND I learn how to use a new tool!! Rivet Gun anyone?! Turns out this tool requires some serrrious hand strength ✋ Come along for the rest of the journey as we share the entire process of this Airstream tiny home build as the first series on our YouTube channel! SUBSCRIBE! ► for a new video every single Wednesday https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCUsg... If you're into outdoor adventures, tiny homes (on wheels & with sails), off-grid living and DIY projects, then you'll want to click that notification bell & follow along ;) 👫WHO WE ARE We are a couple from opposite sides of the world making life together in a teeny-tiny 160 square feet. Our current tiny home is a vintage Airstream trailer nestled in the woods here in the Canadian Pacific Northwest! We like to call her Streamy, our adventure basecamp! Sounds dreamy right? Well let us tell you that it isn't as easy as it looks & the process of building our dream tiny home on wheels (in just 60 days) was freaking hard!!! When we're not enduring these self-imposed suffer-fests (i.e. our DIY projects & long grueling hikes up mountainsides) you'll find us out on the ocean, living and sailing around the PNW on our little sailboat. She's a Catalina 30 and we've been enjoying the challenge of restoring her & teaching ourselves how to sail! ⛵ OUR STORY https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vt8aijVtK_E I (Allison, the Newfie) met James (the Aussie) while working on a remote island 3 years ago. A decade working in healthcare has helped us both to appreciate the preciousness of this one beautiful life we've been given. Viewing TIME as our most valuable gift, we've been feeling an urgency in our lives to Live All Out! We decided to make some BOLD moves, hit PAUSE on our conventional careers & work full time, turning our DREAMS into reality. This is the beginning of our YouTube journey & over the next few weeks we will be sharing our first steps towards making full-time adventure possible. We'll be posting weekly videos that document our DIY projects, tiny-home living & our land & sea adventures. It's exciting to post our first episode and we hope you enjoy! Music: http://www.bensound.com/royalty-free-music Trailer sailing from Urangan Harbour up the west coast of Fraser Island to Wathumba Estuary. Wet and bumpy ride in 25 knot easterlies arriving just after low tide. Wathumba is a magical place full of life with birds, fish dingos and wildflowers in abundance. Outside Humpback whales abound in Hervey Bay and many swam around and under our boat. From the air the magic of the inlet in all its beauty unfolds. The incoming tide brings crystal clear water making the inlet a beautiful clear swimming pool. The mangroves at the head of the estuary is a great place to catch bream. Superb sunsets and sunrises and many miles of deserted beaches along the west coast of Fraser Island. A south westerly change made for wet and bumpy ride back to Urangan.

► Simpson Bay, Saint Martin, Thursday, January 29th: as the United States shivered and even Miami was threatened by frost, temperatures were nearing 86°F (30°C) in the heart of the Caribbean, and the sun was ever-present – barely obscured by a few cumulus clouds. Sailors are always thrilled when they have a return of straight race victories. Then there are times when they are happy to come out in one piece, still within touching distance of the medals. That was the case today at Sailing's World Cup Series in Hyères, France as chaos reigned in the Laser Radial fleet. The competition in Hyères reached a critical stage on Friday with Medal Races imminent. Saturday's racing will see the see the skiffs, windsurfers, multihulls and foiling kiteboarders fight for the medals after a day that saw all the competitors make a final dash to reach the top ten. Porsche 3.2 Carrera Engine Installation - Porsche Carrera Rebuild #PorscheRebuild #PorscheRestoration #Porsche3.2Carrera Hi Everyone! We are back on our 1986 Porsche 3.2 Carrera! Whoohoo! Today we finally get the engine re-installed in the car, BUT... Holy cow... The weather turns partway through the project with sustained winds past 75mph with a max gust of 95mph! That makes things entertaining :) If that wasn't enough, I get to battle a large and very dangerous grass file that almost got the houses across the street. While I was dealing with the fire Heidi was evacuated by order of the fire department. It was a day not soon forgotten. Enjoy!
