The Phoenix is a brig built in Denmark in 1929. Over the years, it has borne several names: Anna, Palmeto, Jørgen Peter, Karma, Skibladner, Adella, Gabriel. In the 1950s, it became a coaster in the North Sea. In 1991, the Phoenix transformed into the 15th-century carrack Santa Maria for the filming of Ridley Scott's movie 1492: Conquest of Paradise. The ship was known by this name, Santa Maria, until 1996, when it reverted to its original name, Phoenix. Since then, it has appeared in numerous films such as Ridley Scott's #intheheartofthesea (Moby Dick) and Napoleon. In 2024, the Phoenix was acquired by the company 'Arzao Hag arzam' and now sails under the French flag, with its home port in Port Haliguen, #Quiberon in #Brittany. 50 años de Transturin En la década de los 70 se creó Transportes Turísticos Internacionales que se lo denominó posteriormente Transturin. Juan Luzio Grandchant y su esposa Consuelo Ballivián de Luzio iniciaron lo que es hoy en día una de las principales y más prestigiosas operadoras de turismo receptivo en Bolivia. Transturin inicialmente implementó la primera conexión regular entre Cusco y La Paz con los buses más lujosos y equipados de esa época. Posteriormente, en los años 80 se agregó a esta conexión internacional unos cruceros Catamarán para atravesar navegando el Titicaca, llegando a ser el servicio más demandado en el segmento B2B. En los años 90, se desarrolló un Complejo Cultural en plena Isla del Sol, hoy en día este complejo es el principal atractivo turístico privado de Bolivia; por supuesto es un valor agregado disponible solamente para los clientes de Catamarán. En estos 50 años, solo en 4 meses, durante la pandemia del COVID-19, se tuvo que hacer una pausa forzada de la operación de servicios turísticos de nuestra oferta. Hoy en día el grupo corporativo al que pertenece Transturin está ya bajo la segunda generación familiar.
