The Auto pilot returned to its previous behavior and before long it was joined by an engine alarm as we began to beat into building seas near to Cape Flattery. Oh yes and then there was the fun task of hand scooping out the bilge which was full of a mixture of diesel fuel and water making all of the sleeping quarters almost unbearable to be in due to the fumes.... The captain made the right call for us to turn back and head for the last safe port before the Cape: Neah Bay, Washington. We are finally back on the boat. The surgeons had given Holly the go-ahead, and with a mixture of relief and excitement, we set sail once more. However, the weather had other plans. Instead of smooth sailing under clear skies, we were met with relentless winds and choppy waves. That first night on the water was particularly grueling. The boat pitched and rolled, making it nearly impossible to sleep. Every creak and groan of the vessel seemed amplified, a constant reminder that boat life is unpredictable. By morning, we were exhausted, having lost a lot of sleep to the unforgiving weather. Yet, despite the fatigue and the rough start, It doesn't turn us off though, we up anchor and search for a more appropriate anchorage in the hope of a better night's sleep. Watch as we push through the dodgy weather to get back into the swing of things and settle into boat life again. What could go wrong? Germany’s Boris Herrmann, (Malizia Seaexplorer, 9th), climbed the mast last night and lashed his J 2 to the head of its forestay after his hook system broke. Jean Le Cam, (Tout commence en Finistère – Armor Lux, 14th), has made a nice gain, breaking away from the pack chasing him while Éric Bellion, (STAND AS ONE – Altavia, 28th), has decided to take shelter in the lee of the Falklands after his J 2 attachment repair gave way.

We have been busy again this week. The kids are starting to take on projects of their own on Paikea which is awesome and it means it frees Shayne up to concentrate on the more tricky aspects of the upgrade. Ayden is pushing forward on templating and preparing floors panels for infusion, and Harry is finishing off his own very special carbon/nomex floor. Meanwhile Olly is powering through a lot of the sanding jobs. So far we have managed to replace 4 sections of flooring and judging by the weight saving so far we are guessing we should save more than 150kg just with new floors. Feel like supporting us?
