**WATCH CLEAR TO THE END** Today we left Cambridge Cay in the Exumas and are sailing south to Big Major's Spot near Staniel Cay and the Thunderball Grotto Caves. We had a decent day of sailing with winds blowing from the East Northeast at about 15 to 20 knots, allowing us to make great time getting to Big Major's Spot. The anchorage was full of boats when we arrived and we noticed due to the strong winds blowing from the East, that the further away from the island you anchored the more water chop you would get. We got as close to the island as we could with our 5’ draft to try to reduce the fetch, but it just wasn't as protected of a spot as our last. We got spoiled at Cambridge Cay. Upon arriving one of our friends told us via satellite communication (texting) that we were at the island with the famous swimming pigs! You would think that we would have already known that, but we didn't... at least Kenzie didn't know, so it was a fun surprise for her! The weather was overcast with wind and chop on the water, but we adventured over to the beach in the dinghy anyway. There weren't very many people at "Pig Beach" which was really nice and it was fun to meet the famous swimming pigs that we have seen in so many other people's sailing vlogs. Tomorrow is calling for sunny weather so we are planning on going back to see the pigs one more time before moving over to the Thunderball Grotto Caves. (See next weeks video) While at “Pig Beach” Kenzie was really excited to have recognized someone right away! It’s probably not obvious in our video, but you can see this person a couple of times. The LSG Group has taken its culinary excellence skills to yet another level: The company’s Global Culinary Excellence Team has developed “bonus food” for Alexander Gerst, a European Space Agency (ESA) astronaut and International Space Station (ISS) commander during the upcoming “Horizons” mission. Bonus food plays an important role in the astronauts’ physical and psychological wellbeing during their typically six-month stay onboard the ISS. While their day-to-day meals are a selection from a standard food catalogue, they can take a certain amount of bonus food (about 10 percent of their total provisions), which is specifically developed to their individual preferences. The consumption of the bonus food onboard the ISS is an important team event that fosters morale and spirit during the astronauts’ challenging stay in space. “When you fly onboard the ISS, you are around 400 km above our planet,” said Frank de Winne, Head of the European Astronaut Centre (EAC) in Cologne, Germany. “We certainly want our astronauts to perform in an optimal manner, so we need to provide them support. One of the supports we provide is food.” "In order to enhance the challenging life of the astronauts, we try to offer them a taste of home,” commented Jörg Hofmann, Director Culinary Excellence LSG Group. “Food is deeply connected to our families, personal life and cultural heritage. In de-veloping the bonus food, we needed to think completely out of the box and were able to apply all our knowledge and culinary expertise in a very unique way.” On May 19, 2018, there was a media event at the EAC in which the attendees were able to sample the Horizons mission bonus food. “It was a great compliment and accomplishment for us to receive some excellent feedback from the ESA, and we look very much forward to seeing the astronauts enjoy our creations in space,” added Jörg Hofmann. The Horizons mission is scheduled to start June 6, 2018.

Pour être honnête, je devrais être en train de dormir mais je profite plutôt d'un instant de « calme » avec un café (what else ?!) devant l'ordinateur en attendant le téléchargement des fichiers météo. Well, this TJV has thrown us some tough conditions over the last 6 days, this is the first time I have a minute to spare, to be honest I should be sleeping but instead I am enjoying a moment of "calm" with a coffee (what else?!) at the computer, waiting for some weather to download. The relentless conditions take their toll on body and boat. I am still wearing the same clothes as I was last Sunday, hair has not been brushed, only the basics like brushing teeth have been possible. Tonight things should calm down slightly, but that just mean more work for us: bigger sails and hours at the helm to keep it fast. Plus a few jobs on the job-list that need to be done. Racing is great, the others do not make mistakes and the pace is hard-core, we are proud to be up near the front of the fleet, sad to see so many of our friends forced to head back to land. To win, first you have to finish, never forget. The route is still long and we are happy to be out here. In this video "Wall of Squalls" we finish our stay at Christmas Cove, St Thomas, then leave for a one day sail to the south for St Croix for a change of atmosphere. Due to the covid-19 / coronavirus restrictions we are currently only able to travel between the islands of the USVIs. At about the half way point (3 hours off shore) we strike an unavoidable wall of heavy squall and are forced to put in reefs. Squalls are frequent in the Caribbean so we decided to record one start to finish.
