Dee Caffari is a woman with a story that’s not only inspiring, but exceptional. She is the only woman to have circumnavigated the globe alone in both directions in 2006, non-stop, three times! We can really say that she is sharing the same motto as us: Go Beyond. Go beyond is a good description of individuals passion, determination, it challenges you and pushes your boundaries to go where others can’t. It is exactly what Dee Caffari decided to achieve with her life. She, actually, has a background as a school teacher and decided to make a complete carrier change with sailing. During her experiences on sea, she realized that her office, in other words the ocean, was changing! Year after year, she could see more visible plastic on the ocean and this phenomenon was expanding. It has become a man-made global catastrophe. In a world of convenience living, we’re now so addicted to plastic that we’re drowning in it. It is time to make things happen and change. The plastic was only invented 100 years ago but humans are consuming it more and more, it lasts forever… However, it is now in our hands to make things change and to reduce our consumption of plastic. Dee Caffari leaded a young mixed gender crew for the Volvo Oceam Race while promoting an environmental campaign to Turn the Tide on Plastic. She is supporting a cause she is passionate about and the younger generation will follow her throughout her campaign.
