Tip turn on the subtitles we do speak Swedish sometimes in the video. The sailing in our home water the Baltic Sea is part of our preparation to sail to the Mediterranean Sea. Anders has been at the sea most of his life and sailed for the Swedish national dingy sailing team as a young man. Gitte has also grown up with boat and spent every summer sailing with her father as a teenager but made a pause of about 15 years without sailing as an adult, had just begun to pick-up the interest before she meet Anders a 4 years ago. Onboard we also have our cat Litza a 3 year old Devon Rex we call her the cattain because cats always decide over their humans. Litza is a Devon Rex cat and she is the real cattain aboard. Fridá af Wisby is a Wauquiez 47 pilot saloon that we Gitte and Anders bought in UK in 2019 and that we have sailed to Gotland and in season 1 2020 we sail in the Baltic Sea. Autumn 2020 we sailed from Gotland to Dieppe and Spring 2021 we continue south towards the Mediterranean Sea.
Why are we storm chasing as we approach the equator? How we shift gears offshore. We go storm chasing and switch gears when squall after squall, storm after storm, come barreling down on us. We are nearing closer to the Equator as we hit the doldrums during day 8 of our 5000 mile long. #sailing #yacht #storm More about us at https://www.sweetruca.com So who is this crazy sailing couple making fun videos to share? Well, we are Kate and Curtis. We both sold up and headed out to sea, with the goal of sailing around the world via Cape Horn and the Cape of Good Hope. We brought our mixed rescue dog along with us as she loves sailing and swimming too! Our yacht is a year 2000 J Boats J/46. We searched for 3 years for our perfect sailboat for sale, when we found it, we knew it was the one. We spent 6 months re-fitting it in Rhode Island and then went for our shakedown voyage in Maine. We have now left on a huge voyage, our 2nd transatlantic crossing, this time sailing from the Canary Islands to South America. We have sailed over 10,000 bluewater miles to date. We watched other sailing channels before we left as well and we wanted to return the good karma and pass our inspiration and knowledge along. Enough of this, we hope you enjoy our relaxing video on #sailingsunday! XO XO Sailing Sweet Ruca - Kate, Curtis & Roxy Music from Epidemic Sound: https://www.epidemicsound.com/referral/ey2t4k

We just sold EVERYTHING to start our DREAM LIFE! Join us on our journey towards buying a 46FT Beneteau Oceanis in Italy. In this episode we share our experience in buying a sailing boat last week. At this moment we are preparing the house for the new owner. In the next couple of weeks Dirk will be going to Grado, Italy to have a survey done on the boat and to get the actual boat! The boat has some work so Dirk will be working on the boat in the next weeks! Thank you for watching and please subscribe to join us on our journey! Who are we? We are Dirk and Maraya. We just decided to sell our house, and actually everything we own. Our possessions felt like weight and we had a dream. Corona made us realise that if we want to do something big, we should do it now. As afraid as we are to start this adventure, we are going for it with confidence, as we are following our hearts. For the past 8 years Dirk has been dreaming of taking this step. Dirk has been saving money, doing courses, and preparing for this major step. Maraya shares the passion of the ocean and living more sustainable, and also shares this passion about discovering the world from the water! Our inspiration comes from amazing people from channels like: Sailing Doodles, Sailing Zatara, Sailing La Vagabonde, Gone with the Wynns, Sailing SV Delos, Sailing Project Atticus, Finding Avalon, GoSea Sailing, Lazy Gecko, Free Range Sailing, MJ Sailing and many many more. We are fans ourselves. But it is time for us to now create our own journey. B4 is a 31,50 metres ASTONDOA 102 GLX launched in 2005 by the renown Spanish shipyard with the same name, Astondoa. An interesting characteristic of the Astondoa 102 GLX is the design of its hull, which makes it more resistant to a restless sea. We can safely say that their hulls lessen this sensation, resulting in greater on board comfort. In 2023 she has undergone an extensive aesthetic refit, for which the owner did not save any expense, therefore investing approximately 1.100.000€.

Take at look at the Cox CXO300 Diesel Outboard, which is the world’s first 300 HP production diesel outboard engine and the largest diesel outboard engine built today. boats.com's Lenny Rudow gets a closer look at this new engine at the 2018 Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, and examines that while it is heavier and initially more expensive than gasoline outboards, it is also more efficient and should last much longer. In October 2017 I did a dive-safari in Egypt on the Golden Dolphin 2. Our plan was to dive at the Brother Islands (Small and Big Brother), Daedalus Reef and Elphinstone. Unfortunately it was not possible to dive at Elphinstone due to strong weather conditions. However the dives we did at the Brother Islands were absolutely stunning. All in all we had five species of shark: Oceanic White-Tip Shark Thresher Shark Grey Reef Shark White-Tip Reef Shark Scalloped Hammerhead Shark But I was not able to capture every encounter. Camera: GoPro Hero 4 Black Accessories: Red Dive Filter, Dive Housing waterproof to 60m, LCD Touch BacPac Music: XYPO feat. A-Sho - On My Way (Erlando Remix) (All rights of the song belong to their respective owners.) Thanks for watching! Make Bubbles No Troubles.
This video takes us back to January of 2024 and shows just a piece of what life in Georgetown on a sailboat is like. Sherine and I spent our birthdays there this year and there's many great restaurants we found worth of our celebration. We had the goal to make it down to the Ragged Islands but, unfortunately, the weather systems were frequent and not spaced out enough. We learned that there's little refuge from W and NW winds should a storm come. Furthermore, we also heard that the Ragged Islands were very crowded with too many boats jockeying for two few anchorages....maybe this years. So, we ended up spending a bunch of time in Georgetown and ultimately used it as a "jumping off" point for several of our visitors. We did find the time to take a trip to Long Island between storms and we're so glad we did. Long Island is quiet and a bit sleepy but it has a ton of stuff to do and go see. We saw the Columbus Monument, a Blue Hole and the largest sharks I've seen to date in the Bahamas. Long Island has great provisioning and, in fact, we were able to find some items there which were out of stock in Georgetown. This video explains why I moved my boat to another marina. It's all about my hopes and dreams for the future. I want to give living aboard a try. If I can handle living aboard I'll be able to save up money to go cruising for an extended period of time. Sail Life on Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/saildotlife ps. sorry about the lighting. I'm experimenting with different LED lights. It'll get better - I promise!
