In order to prepare for upcoming lamination we do some tests, we test different mold release methods and also do a test piece using resin infusion method - meaning you lay up all fibers dry and push epoxy through the laminate using vacuum. One advantage of this method is that you don't have to stress about pot life of the epoxy. We cross the Panama Canal from the Atlantic side to the Pacific as the first leg of an adventure to Cape Horn (and beyond). I show the process, and discuss the cost for a 15 meter/50 foot monohull. I should have mentioned in the video that after the first series of 3 locks (going up), you spend the night in a huge man-made lake, before heading back down to sea-level the next day.

Navegamos a vela desde el puerto de Punta Lagoa hasta Sálvora. Salimos de la Ría de Vigo en una bonita mañana y ponemos rumbo a las islas Cíes. En principio viento en calma, pero rápido vemos como nuestras velas mayor y génova se inflan y ponen a nuestro velero, el Aristos Tres, un Fortuna 9, a volar con gracia y estilo. Vamos haciendo bordos. Ya sabéis, nos da el viento en la proa y este tipo de veleros no tiene la posibilidad de navegar proa al viento. Al final de la tarde, casi al caer el sol, llegamos a la isla de Sálvora. Es un momento mágico. Acabamos la jornada en la playa de Silgar, en Sanxenxo. Al dia siguiente, ponemos rumbo a la Ría de Vigo. El viento nos entra por la aleta y nos permite izar dos gennakers diferentes. No te puedes perder este vídeo navegando en las Rías Baixas.
