Excursion to Vis and Lastovo islands during our cruise 2019
From our family to yours. In our bubble we have loved the time together, cooking, playing even gardening. But we have always had our other 'baby' on our minds as we navigate this challenging time. We miss being out on the water, getting under the water to explore another world, swapping stories and of course the marshmallows over the fire. Most of all we miss the people. Our amazing guests who normally come to explore our backyard from all over the world. It's not our natural instinct to ask for help but in this changing time for travellers and those of us who help travellers have new experiences, meet new people and explore new places we would love to ask for your help. We are not sure yet when our borders will be open, or when we can all move freely again even in our own countries. What we do know is that we will travel again, cruise again, explore again and share again - our place, our islands, our lives and our experiences with all of you. So we are asking for your help. If you or someone you love or even just happen to know are planning on spending any time in the Bay of Islands in the coming months or even years we have put together a series of gift vouchers. They are open dated to the end of 2023, you can change dates as often as you like and you can even purchase just part of a cruise. https://www.rocktheboat.co.nz/the-rock-gift-vouchers We would love it if you would treat yourself, treat your family, treat your team or treat your friends to an experience that will last a lifetime. It would mean the world to us so we can have The Rock continue to be a unique looking icon here in the Bay of Islands for another 20 years. She has delivered memories that some of you have talked about as you explore the Mayan Ruins in Mexico and for others the memories were so fond you returned with your family a decade after you explored as backpackers. We've had engagements, reunions, birthdays and weddings before COVID-19 and we know with your support we will have many more aboard in the future. And of course if the Bay of Islands isn't on your horizon then we would love if you could share this far and wide for us with your networks. Much Love from the Greener Bubble Scarlett, Jonny and Sarah.

Hear Peter Harken tell the tale of how a single detail (the bounce of a plastic ball) launched an entire company. This detail made all the difference. Less mass. Faster acceleration. If you listen to Peter Harken recount the moment he realized the Delrin® ball bearings he spilled on the floor while assembling a prototype he’d designed working at a medical equipment company during his university career, he’ll tell you that when he saw those balls hit the pavement and bounce he was surprised at how quickly they reacted. They appeared to spring off the floor. To him that meant they would react equally quickly inside the sheaves of the first Harken ball-bearing blocks. Peter’s watershed understanding was that to make a responsive block the sheaves needed to be quick. They needed to start moving quickly, with even small amounts of force exerted. In fact, Harken designed his blocks to make it easier to ease sails in the lightest breeze. Accounts of the earliest users of the original Harken blocks all remark on how easily the sails eased: "Beware of the black blocks with the white balls. If you don't duck immediately, the boom's gonna knock your head right off."

One of the strangest year ever, No Guests, and less crew without any social events and gatherings. This year,( the never thought off 2020), I have been blessed as one of the few to be chosen to work and be able to provide and support for my family. The Pandemic is not over and many obstacles, small or big will cross our paths before we can sit down and think of the Covid19 as a past adventure. 2020 gave me a different perspective in life, to be humble, to be patient, to believe in the Lord Almighty, lastly whatever happens in your life your family is your number one supporter, without them i will never survive the stress of this pandemic. Thank you to my family for everything To all my fellow teammates who are still at home and waiting to be dispatch onboard have faith and we will see you back soon #wewillbebackstronger #roadto1ksubs
The day of our departure from 'normal life'. After four years of shake-down sails, seemingly endless boat work and working for a living, 2020 steered us into an early departure. We hope in this video to capture some of the emotions that we felt when our day to leave Brisbane finally arrived, and we cast off our securities into the cruising life for a sabbatical in northern waters of Queensland. However Moreton Bay had other ideas... See Video 2 in the series. This is the all-encompassing instruction for learning, building, and installing lights for your house. https://svdreamchaser.com/wledguide for all the details. I've always loved the idea of permanent Christmas lights! More accurately, I wanted a way to enjoy excellent, programmable Christmas lights that are also super versatile. My goal was to leave these lights on the house year-round. I want them to serve as fantastic accent lighting that enhances the architecture of my home. Plus, I'd love to show my team spirit by displaying my favorite team's colors during a thrilling game. And let's not forget about celebrating Independence Day with vibrant red, white, and blue stripes! Essentially, I'm looking for smart, year-round programmable lights that can adapt to multiple purposes and add a festive touch whenever I need it. I wanted my holiday lights to look fantastic and not like I forgot to take down the strings from last Christmas! It was important that they were easy to set up and could simply run on timers with programs I set in advance. Plus, I wanted them to be user-friendly, so anyone unfamiliar with the setup could easily turn them on without any hassle. I accomplished all of that through a valuable journey of education and experimentation, discovering what truly works and what doesn't. Sure, you could opt for brands like "JellyFish Lighting," but have you considered if it will meet your expectations? Will it look as amazing as you envision it in your mind? When I think about it, testing and validating my setup is crucial because I need to be sure it works for me. If you feel the same way, keep reading! I'm excited to share how I approached this process, and I'm happy to say I'm thrilled with the results. This will be a fun multi-part series where I'll walk you through the steps I took to validate my ideas. I'll cover the processes, the mounting methods I tried, the programs I selected, and the various lights I tested before finding the perfect fit. Let's dive in and explore together! ► Full test in Multihulls World N°193: https://www.multihulls-world.com/review/catamaran/minicat-guppy-the-best-toy-ever ► Here's a small inflatable catamaran which is ideal for people who live in towns as well as long haul sailors. In both cases the Minicat Guppy is easy to transport (it only weighs 27kg!) and slips into a 165cm x 30cm x 30cm storage bag. This will go into most cars… and of course on board! It can be inflated and rigged in 10 minutes, and this model completes the Minicat range which already includes the 460, the 420 and the Minicat 310. Despite the floats only being 3 metres long, the Guppy can carry two adults, sail upwind thanks to it’s two movable 50cm ailerons and can even reach speeds of 15 knots in a good breeze! ► TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS Manufacturer: MiniCat (Czech Republic) Designer: MiniCat Overall length: 9’10” (3 m) Overall width: 4’11” (1.5 m) Air draft: 13’6” (4.15 m) Carrying capacity: 518 lbs (235 kg) Mainsail: 48.4 sq ft (4.5 m²) Trampoline: 5’3” x 4’9” (1.6 x 1.45 m) Carrying bag dimensions: 5’5” x 12” x 12” (1.65 x 0.3 x 0.3 m) Empty weight: 60 lbs (27 kg) Persons: 2 CE category: D ► Become a FREE SUBSCRIBER to Multihulls World's YouTube page now - https://www.youtube.com/c/MultihullsWorld ► Log on to our website to discover over 500 multihulls tests! Have you ever seen an octopus hunt? 👀 Octopuses creep toward their prey and pounce to grab hold with their tentacles. Using powerful suctions that line their arms, they then pull the animal into their mouth. Effective, you think? Well... How could anything escape a 9-brain hunter? 🐙 📷 Production Images: Reto Schlaepfer Editing: Lorine Grandjean 🎵 Music: Stargaze — Declan DP [Audio Library Release] Provided by Audio Library Plus
