Manos a la obra para solucionar la gran lista de problemas que arrastramos desde el accidente en el cruce del Atlántico Tras 12 días en el océano rompimos uno de los obenques, los encargados de sujetar el mástil, todavía a 5 días de llegar a tierra. Dada la situación, tuvimos que hacer un aparejo de fortuna que nos permitiese continuar, este con suerte ns aguantó el resto del cruce y un mes recorriendo el sur de las pequeñas Antillas. Además, se fueron sumando más roturas a la lista: botalón, base botavara, alternador del motor, sujeción de la estructura de las placas solares... Aún así, sin poder ir a vela y dependiendo del sol para cargar las baterías seguimos nuestro camino, llegando por fin a puerto a darle solución a todas estas roturas. Después de 2 meses sin entrar a puerto, la última vez fue en Canarias, llegamos a Rodney Bay Marina en Santa Lucia, donde estaremos unos días arreglando todos los desperfecto. Gracias a dar con la gente adecuada en la marina y a nuestra gran tripulación ponemos el barco a punto para seguir nuestro camino y aventura, esta vez por fin a vela. After spending the last three weeks on the hard – and some big life changes on land – we were more than ready to get back where we belong… on the water. This marks the start of Season 3 of Sailing ARGO as we begin making our way back up the Queensland coastline. We ease back in with a quick overnight stop at St Helena Island (just south of the Brisbane River) before setting off on a 120nm, 21-hour overnight sail toward one of Australia’s most well-known coastal challenges – the Wide Bay Bar. This time, the crossing was a dream compared to the 3m swell we faced on our last attempt. Even better, we got to share the experience alongside our old friend, SV Trim. After the long push, we dropped anchor at Garry’s Anchorage, K’gari, where a couple of calm nights and much-needed sleep reminded us exactly why we love this life. It feels so good to be back. This was quite an emotional chapter for us. Not only because we are missing Caladh terribly (and wonder if she misses us too!), but also because in this episode we ended up making one of the most difficult decisions of our adventure so far... to leave the boat somewhere safe and travel back to Manchester. Family illness and the escalating pandemic were the main reasons for this mid-season finale, which we chat a bit more about in this episode. Despite this, we still manage to clock up over 2,000 nautical miles and explore the deep Mani in the Southern Peloponnesus. We test our new electric outboard for the first time, see dolphins, fortresses, breathtaking sunsets and sail the length of the dramatic rugged coastline made famous by author Patrick Leigh Fermor and home to descendants of the Spartans.
