In this episode we are back from Suva and get settled into an apartment in Namaka (area of Nadi), Fiji. We then start to explore, looking for beaches and historic sites. As for historic sites, we find that Momi Bay Historical Park, the official touristy maintained gun battery south of Nadi, is closed for COVID reasons. But later we continue north of Nadi and find another gun battery, Lomolomo, that is just....there! No fences or tourism advertising or signage to keep anyone out. And there's wild lemongrass growing all over the place, with some curry leaves too! The first beautiful beach we show you with the horses is Natadola Beach near the Intercontinental Fiji resort. We show you the Garden of the Sleeping Giant, which is a cool collection of orchids from all over the world. We stop by Vuda marina where we see the catamaran Amanecer up "on the hard" waiting for Rob and family to return after cyclone season, as well as Patches. And we visit Lautoka. To be honest we didn't get a great first impression of Lautoka. Lastly we say goodbye to Fiji....returning to record cold weather in Vancouver. Stay tuned to find out what's next! This military grade foam collar RIB is in great shape with only 600 hours on the F300 Yamahas. I have driven many RIBs over the years ( I used to work for Zodiac Hurricane) and I do no recall one which handles like this one. Very fast, dry riding, very solid into a head sea, no kiting due to the aerodynamic hull and cabin. The hard top and full enclosure provide great protection from the elements, great forward visibility and a pantograph wiper. There are four seats the forward two have bolster options. The spacious cabin has a Jabsco head. The electronics package is over the top, the Wetsounds Audiofile sound system cost 30K, don't tell his wife. The RaymarineES128 charplotter/fishfinder is hooked up to Quantum Radar for those foggy days. Pro mariner battery charger, Standard marine VHF. The Yamaha controls are fly by wire, there is a yamaha digital smart gauge. LED lights throughout the boat, also Nuteak flooring. Storage on some RIBs can be in short supply, not on this Loki, lots of dry storage throughout the boat. There are two draining fishholds. The self bailing deck has huge 2 inch scuppers. Up forward there is a great sitting area, a large anchor locker with a fortress anchor package and a samson post. The starter and house batteries have isolator switches. Each motor is hooked up to a remote racor fuel filter. This is a heavy build and capable of handling any local conditions any time of year, get there fast and in style.
