What's a Youtube Channel without a quick intro video so here is mine! Welcome to the channel Sailing Life Aquatic and all the adventures that come from a life on the water! I hope I can teach a little bit about what this lifestyle is all about and convince a few more of you to come out and experience the world in a whole new light!

We finally got check out of Martinique. It was such a hassle because all of the offices were closed for a couple days due to Easter. But Gina got it done for as and we finally headed up to Dominica. The sail was great and by night time we arrived at the island. The kids loved catching needlefish from the back of the boat that night. Something funny happened when we were working out the next day. There we some local people circling our boat who wanted us to pay them to go to another place and use their mooring ball. We did not want that, so all five of us were lying down on the floor of our boat when they were lurking around our boat 😂. After a quick dancing session on the boat we headed out to get checked in to Dominica. It was a quick stop as we wanted to pick up our guests and head up to Guadeloupe. After a lovely evening and dinner with our friends we checked out of Dominica and started to head up to Guadeloupe. After some sailing we finally arrived and spend the evening at the beach. Nick and his daughter is amazing. We're so glad to have them with us for some fun time! In this episode we go to the 2023 Newport Boat Show and tour some yachts. Beau is definitely my "brother from another mother." After much thought, I listed SV KYRON, my Pearson 26 for sale. We will continue to sail her and maintain her until she finds a new owner. David Hows catches up with Sharon Ferris-Choat for a debrief on the IMOCA Open 60 project - Awen. With less than 8 weeks to get Awen into MCA Cat 0 survey and to the start line, for the what turned out to be a treacherous edition of the Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race, it was mission impossible. Despite the odds, Sharon led a passionate team, who worked around the clock during October and November of 2024, to then cross the Tasman from Opua to Sydney in early December and make it to the start line. Miraculously final approval to race was given by the CYCA just 4 hours before the race started. It was a refit and upgrade project of epic proportions and nail biting right to the end. We had no plan B, we simply had to complete the 700+ tasks in less than 7 weeks, to make the dream possible. And then the race got underway with gusts of 50 knots plus, hitting the fleet of 103 starters on the first night. The carnage that unfolded over the following 2-3 days was horrendous, as 30 yachts retired with broken masts, lost steering, water ingress, torn sails, injured bodies and the list goes on. Tragically 2 lives were lost, when crew members were hit by booms and mainsheets and a man overboard was successfully recovered during a moon-less night at sea. There are lessons in this for all of us. This the remarkable story of Sharon’s leadership and seamanship, to pull a rookie crew together for the first time, 3 weeks earlier and to deliver them safely from Sydney to Hobart, despite hitting speeds of 24 knots plus at times, on a boat they were still learning to sail. Август 2022. Исследуем Менорку. Я с мальчиками иду в заповедник Parc Natural de s'Albufera des Grau. Пока наш папа, Сергей, Работает за компьютером (да, наш папа – волшебник программирования! 💻), мы с мальчишками отправились исследовать удивительный природный ландшафт заповедника С'Альбуфера-дес-Грау. Это крупнейшее водно-болотное угодье на Менорке. Альбуфера — это прибрежная лагуна, отделенная от моря хорошо развитой системой дюн и лесом из сосен. Какой тут запах. И тень давала прохладу. Это место поразило нас своей первозданной красотой и спокойствием. Едва ступив на его территорию, мы ощутили, как суета осталась позади, а вокруг разлилась умиротворяющая тишина, нарушаемая лишь пением птиц и шелестом листьев. Поднявшись на смотровую площадку, мы замерли, очарованные панорамным видом на лагуну. Простирающаяся до самого горизонта водная гладь, окруженная изумрудными зарослями тростника и серебристой лентой дюн, отделяющих ее от моря – это зрелище навсегда останется в нашей памяти. Мальчишки, конечно было скучновато, но они пытались разглядеть обитателей этого водного царства, и их глаза светились неподдельным интересом. Затем мы погрузились в прохладу соснового леса, где солнечные лучи пробивались сквозь кроны, рисуя на земле причудливые тени. Прогуливаясь по извилистым тропинкам, мы останавливались у информационных стендов, которые словно открывали перед нами страницы увлекательной книги об истории этого места и его уникальной экосистеме. Мы узнали, как природа и человек на протяжении веков создавали этот неповторимый ландшафт, и как важно бережно относиться к таким заповедным уголкам нашей планеты. Для Егора и Никиты эта прогулка стала настоящим открытием. Мы поняли , что самостоятельно без организаванной группы тут нельзя плавать. Мальчики конечно, расстроились. Они с увлечением изучали каждую травинку, каждый цветок, задавали бесконечные вопросы и делились своими впечатлениями. Никита очень хотел увидеть черепаху. В такие моменты особенно остро чувствуешь ценность совместных путешествий и радость познания мира вместе с детьми. Пока папа Сергей создает свои цифровые шедевры, мы здесь, на лоне природы, заряжаемся энергией и вдохновением, чтобы потом делиться этими впечатлениями с ним. Endlich! Nach langem warten, hat sich nun, ein gutes Wetterfenster geöffnet, um die berüchtigte Bucht der Biskaya zu überqueren. Es ist wohl eines der bekanntesten und herausfordernsden Seegebiete der Welt. Für viele Segler kaum vorstellbar noch im Winter über die Biscaya zu segeln, da es besonders in dieser Jahreszeit in der Bucht zu schweren Stürmen kommt. Wir haben tagelang das Wetter beobachtet, vereinzelt Segler via AIS begleitet…und sind uns sicher. Wir schaffen das auch, oder wie Vivi sagt: "Vorbereitung ist alles", aber stimmt das? Sind wir wirklich bereit? Noch grün hinter den Ohren, diesen Sprung zu wagen? "Ja", sagen die Mädels im Chor, "Wir sind bereit!" Nach dem wir schon in Brest das Boot fertig gemacht und alles geprüft hatten, kümmern wir uns nun noch um die Wegzehrung. Gleich in der ersten Nacht, allen Wettervorhersagen zum Trotz, zeigt uns die Biskaya ihr Temperament. Valerié und Vivi werden Seekrank, also muss ich erstmal Navita alleine segeln. Wir werden drei Tage und drei Nächte unterwegs sein, oder ?
