So after having been using a caravan for many years, we knew some of the drawbacks with gas. Our two most significant concerns were how do we get more gas in a foreign country and how do we make sure that we have continuous gas doing the night. We have updated the campervan with a system that automatically switches from one bottle to the next upon it being empty. And then we went on a hunt to get some gas bottle that was not too heavy and could be refilled, which we found in Poland. John Leonida, Ocean's correspondent at this year's Monaco Yacht Show, spent some time aboard the remarkable 80-metre hybrid superyacht Artefact talking to the yard's new CEO, Philipp Maracke. Maracke stepped into the role in August after Nobiskrug was acquired by Tennor Group, ending months of uncertainty about the yard's future. With a history of building such groundbreaking yachts as Tatoosh, Mogambo and Sailing Yacht A, the revitalised yard can build for the future while drawing on its past. “It makes me very proud, looking at the vessels that were delivered from Nobiskrug that were so iconic,” says Maracke, “but it’s clear something has to change in terms of processes and methodologies.
