After an exciting, nail biting, edge-of-our-seats conclusion to the 2024 season which marked 12 glorious years since the world’s leading grand prix monohull circuit started in Barcelona in 2012, the 52 SUPER SERIES again follows the preferences of its passionate, committed owners in 2024 with an itinerary which is a mix of popular proven locations which offer a good variety of racing conditions. For the first time the circuit visits Newport, Rhode Island, one of sailing’s real epicentres where two regattas will be raced, hosted by the historic, famous Newyork Yacht Club.

This video takes us back to January of 2024 and shows just a piece of what life in Georgetown on a sailboat is like. Sherine and I spent our birthdays there this year and there's many great restaurants we found worth of our celebration. We had the goal to make it down to the Ragged Islands but, unfortunately, the weather systems were frequent and not spaced out enough. We learned that there's little refuge from W and NW winds should a storm come. Furthermore, we also heard that the Ragged Islands were very crowded with too many boats jockeying for two few anchorages....maybe this years. So, we ended up spending a bunch of time in Georgetown and ultimately used it as a "jumping off" point for several of our visitors. We did find the time to take a trip to Long Island between storms and we're so glad we did. Long Island is quiet and a bit sleepy but it has a ton of stuff to do and go see. We saw the Columbus Monument, a Blue Hole and the largest sharks I've seen to date in the Bahamas. Long Island has great provisioning and, in fact, we were able to find some items there which were out of stock in Georgetown. In this video we take our first trip of the season from the Marina in Lakki, Leros over to the port of Skala in Patmos in the Aegean Sea. The crossing was a bit choppy and we got there just in time for the Meltemi (High Winds). We enjoyed our time in Patmos, visiting the Monastery of Saint John, the Patmos Windmills and the Cave of the Apocalypes. Saint John is the author of the book of Revelations. Setting sail from St. Bees Island our intention was to head for the Percy Islands but an uncertain weather forecast meant a change in plan. We anchored at Curlew Island part of the Guardfish Cluster group. Heavy fog saw us depart for the Duke Islands, anchoring at scenic Hunter Island. The following morning we set off again to round Cape Townshend, encountering whales along the way. Going through the night we got a bit of a fright, being buzzed by a helicopter, after straying into the Shoalwater Bay Military Zone before arriving at our destination, Great Keppel Island in the early hours.

Did you know that Stornoway is so much more than a town on the shipping forecast? We sail into the harbour from a delightful anchorage and set off to explore the town. We walk through the grounds of Lews Castle taking in the fabulous views then pop inside for lunch before exploring the building itself. We were delighted to find a museum on site containing 6 of the original late 12th century chessmen found on the Ilse of Lewis. These are known as the Lewis Chessmen.
