Hangzhou is an amazing place to visit and experiencing life there is a joy. We loved seeing the variety of dancing that spontaneously popped up around the lake. It was a highlight for the locals as well as they were able to let their creative juices flow! Hefang Street and the surrounding walking streets are a quiet break from the busy city streets. With only pedestrian traffic, you could meander without the worry of the cars. The architecture was beautiful with boutiques selling custom crafts and trinkets and eateries were everywhere offering unique Hangzhou traditional foods. We ate at various vendors trying all different kinds of delicacies. Hu XueYan Mansion was just a short walk from Hefang Street outside the gate at the southern end of the pedestrian area near the Catholic Church. The tall white stucco walls hide the gem found inside. The mansion is well worth a 2-hour visit; hire a guide and go on a weekday to avoid the crowds. Once on the estate, it’s difficult to navigate with all the passageways, small rooms, outdoor gardens, and courtyards. The guide will give you background information that you would never otherwise have so it’s well worth the time to get one. After spending a week in Noumea, we realised we had to crack on and get our Rigging issues fixed. As is quite often the case with getting boats repaired there was a fair bit of hanging around and waiting. This gave us the opportunity to observe the goings on in and around the bay. We had the comings and goings of several Superyachts and Cruise Liners.

Vlog #8 While on our way from Newport to Crescent City the autopilot was having trouble trying to handle the swell. So Captain Trav took over, thinking he could do a better job. He was really celebrating his massive victory but later watching the footage back we realized he BARELY beat the autopilot at all. Picked a bowl full of dewberries by the marina and I fully intent to make dewberry compote with it. But...I was busy fixing my windows, every time I opened the fridge I would pop a handful into my mouth & after a week, it is all gone. I don't feel like fighting the thorny dewberry brambles to get more. So, I cheated and get some black berry from the grocery store.. :(. That is my story & I am sticking with it.
