The Balmain team of Henry Larkings, Tom Grimes and Lachlan Pryor became the 2025-26 Australian 18ft skiff champions following another sensational day’s racing in constantly changing conditions on Sydney Harbour today. The fleet went into the final day with a number of top contenders for the title carrying scores they hoped to discard while others were more consistent and had better scores before the final two races. It was hard to predict what may happen and the end result came down to the final run of the last race and a count back to decide the title. Throughout the day, wind conditions made things even more difficult for all teams as they battled very light winds in both races over the two-lap windward-leeward courses. Going into the final race, allowing for the leading teams’ discards, Shaw and Partners Financial Services (Keagan York) had a guaranteed 14 points score, regardless of where the team would finish in the race. Brisbane’s GC Sails (Scott Cunningham) had a net 11 points, Yandoo (Micah Lane) 12, Balmain 13, Lazarus Capital Partners (Tom Cunich) 15 and Germany’s Black Knight (Heinrich Von Bayern) was on 16 points net. When Yandoo led narrowly from Brisbane’s Big Foot Bags and Covers (Dave Hayter) at the final weather mark and had only a spinnaker run to the finish, the current Giltinan world champion looked a certain winner of the title, but another brilliant finishing burst by the young Balmain team, grabbed a narrow lead and victory which changed everything. The race win gave Balmain a total of 14 points, equal to Shaw and Partners, but Balmain took the championship title on count back with the last race victory. After each team discarded its worst performance from the five-race regatta, the final points table had Balmain on 14 points, followed by Shaw and Partners Financial Services (Keagan York, Matt Stenta and Tom Anderson) also on 14points, and Yandoo (Micah Lane, Fang Warren and Lewis Brake) on 15 points. Lazarus Capital Partners and GC Sails finished next on 17, Vaikobi (Kirk Mitchell) on 25, Black Knight on 26, Brisbane 18 Footers (Josh Sloman) on 30, Big Foot Bags and Covers on 32 points and Sixt (Jacob Marks) and Fisher & Paykel (Brett Van Munster) on 35 points. In today’s first race, Club Marine (Emma Rankin, Brandon Buyink and Jed Cruikshank) defeated Lazarus Capital Partners (Tom Cunich, Marc Chapon and Tim Westwood) by 17s with Balmain just 2s further back in third place The latter race resulted in Balmain’s win by 8s from Lazarus, with Yandoo another 5s back in third place. Club Marine’s victory in the first of the races was another historical moment as her skipper, Emma Rankin became the first female skipper to win a race in an Australian 18ft skiff championship. The racing over the three days was as close as the final point scores suggest. There were several lead changes, close finishes and some excellent performances by the Brisbane and German teams in very demanding conditions, which dominated the three days racing. With strong New Zealand teams expected to join the NSW, Queensland and European teams that competed this week, the upcoming Giltinan world Championship on Sydney Harbour in March should be one of the closest for many years. Today’s result sheets and final point scores, together with SailMedia images from today’s racing, are attached. Australian 18 Footers League club racing resumes next Sunday (25 January) when the club will conduct a 3-buoys race for the President’s Trophy. The club’s spectator ferry will follow the racing and SailMedia will livestream all the action with an expert commentary team on the course to provide information for viewers. Ce bateau de Nouvelle-Zélande à peine arrivé ils sont partis à la marina pour manger un bout, ils ont pas mis de chaîne assez suffisantes et nous avons évité la catastrophe de justesse. Le pire dans tout ça c'est que son moteur bâbord refusé de démarrer pour cause, il est en panne. Très difficile de manœuvrer non seulement un bateau que l'on connaît pas mais avec un seul moteur.

Offshore Team Germany (uncut) auf den ersten offiziellen Rennmeilen beim Ocean Race Europe

Partir pour une semaine de navigation en Corse en plein mois de juillet, c'était s'assurer de se retrouver avec beaucoup de voisin au mouillage. En fait, non, pas vraiment. Nous nous sommes même retrouvés seuls, pour une nuit, sur un mouillage généralement bien fréquenté. Mis à part à Roccapina, les autres mouillages où nous avons jeté l'ancre, dans l'ordre : Cacalu, Cala d'Orzu, Cala Longa, Roccapina, Cala di Brijia, Porto Pollo puis la Castagna se sont avérés plutôt calmes. Cette semaine sur l'eau s'est vue ponctuée par une avarie sur le génois avec la rupture de la manille de drisse. Cela nous a contraint à naviguer sous grand-voile seule pour rejoindre la Cala di Brijia, où nous avons attendu le lendemain matin en raison de la houle, pour monter au mât. Après quelques litres de sueur et une réparation de fortune, nous avons pu repartir et naviguer avec un peu de génois en plus de la GV à un rythme pépouz. Puis à la fin des vacances, nous avons dû affaler le génois pour le ramener à la maison afin de le recoudre par endroit. Il s'en suivra une sortie de l'eau pour le bateau avec pas mal de travaux : - un carénage - un changement d'hélice pour le moteur (remise en place de l'hélice d'origine) - deux montées au mât pour inspection et changement de pièce (réas des drisse de GV et génois, balancine, etc.) - un démontage de hublot + étanchéité refaite - un démontage de l’étai de génois pour sortir le tambour et l'émerillon d'enrouleur à changer - plein d'autre chose (remplacement de la vache à eau, etc.) Les pièces n'étant pas toute arrivées dans le temps imparti de la mise au sec, je suis à nouveau remonté au mât par 2 fois, au mouillage, pour remplacer le feu de mât et remettre les axes et réas, non sans en avoir fait tomber un dans le mât, ce qui m'a valu de devoir en commander de nouveau. Aujourd'hui, l'enrouleur de génois fonctionne, le génois est réparé et hissé. La grand-voile se hisse à nouveau sans trop d'effort, l'hélice est beaucoup plus performante et le bateau est bien plus manœuvrable qu'avec l’hélice bec-de-canard. Nous allons maintenant pouvoir profiter d'une nouvelle semaine de vacances en septembre pour tester tout ça. Sept. 2021 segeln wir erstmalig in Griechenland von der Marina Alimos mit einer Bavaria 37 aus 2015 nach Poros. Wir werden von Delphinen begrüßt Delphine ab Minute: 01:12 Poros ab Minute: 03:50 segeln mit hohen Wellen ab Minute: 09:15 Teil 1: direkt nach dem Auslaufen am Sonntag schwimmen zwei Delphine an unserem Bug! Großartig. Unter Motor geht es weiter nach Poros, wo wir im Ankerfeld gegenüber fest machen. Mit dem Dinghi überqueren wir die Durchfahrt nach Poros Stadt. Das geht nur ohne Wind & Wellen und mit Beleuchtung!!! Andernfalls nimmt man sich besser ein Taxi-Boot. MO: 1 Tag vor dem angesagten Meltemi. Wir machen uns bei 20 kn Nord-Wind auf den Weg nach Süden. Raumwind machte es richtig Spaß. Kurzer Badestopp Nahe des Festlandes in der Bucht GALI. Weiter ging es nach Hydra. Dort drehten wir nur eine Hafenrunde. Platz wäre gewesen aber nur unter schlechten Bedingungen bei angesagtem Meltemi. So kehrten wir um und kämpften uns gegen den Wind mit immer höher werdenden Wellen zurück in den Hafen von Poros. Der war natürlich dicht. Die meisten sind den Tag vor dem Meltemi schon dort geblieben und gar nicht ausgelaufen. In "unserem" Ankerfeld des Vortagages war eine private Boje frei. An die trauten wir uns heute und verbrachten 2 Nächte dort. Keine Schiff verließ am Dienstag seine sichere Bucht. Teil 2: Am Mittwoch legten wir um 9 Uhr von Poros ab und segelten Amwind mit noch hohen Wellen die Küste von Methana hoch. Danach segelten wir Amwind auf Agistri zu. Da bewölkt und windig, wollte keiner baden und so steuerten wir direkt auf den Hafen von Nea Epidavros zu. Ob wohl ich vorher anrief und man mir sagte, dass kein Platz sei, war Gott sei dank Platz und ich legte glücklich mit Mooring in dem Hafen an. Donnerstag: es war die erste Nacht, in der ich ruhig schlief und wir badeten noch gemütlich am Strand. Um 11:30 Uhr starteten wir Amwind mit Schräglage nach Agistri. Mittag brachten wir das erste mal eine Landleine aus und badeten in der schönen Bucht. 15:15 Anker auf und weiter nach Ägina, wo wir um 17 Uhr nach dem 2. Versuch den Anker mit 50 m Kette und 2.000 Umdrehungen vor dem Hafen von Perdika einfuhren. Es war ein toller Abend mit lecker Essen ;) Freitag: um 10:38 motorten wir in die Marian Alimos. Alle Buchten Richtung Alimos waren Freitag leider komplett überfüllt. Um 15 Uhr legten wir glücklich und unversehrt in Alimos an. Leider stellte sich das Tanken als Betrug heraus. Ich zahlte satt 70 Euro für den Diesel 170 Euro. Anfangs dachte ich, der Tankwart hat mich beschissen, aber nach einiger Recherche kam ich auf den Schluss, dass der Tank vom Vorbesitzer wohl nicht voll war. Die Tankanzeige zeigte aber voll. Das liegt an dem Konischen Tank der Bavaria. Vermeidung für die Zukunft: einen gefüllten Dieseltank bei Übergabe verlangen (in Griechenland wohl Standard) und mit diesem den Tank "prüfen". Das war sehr ärgerlich! Samstag früh fuhren wir dann mit einem ganz leiben Taxifahrer nach Athen. Der erlaubte uns, unser Gepäck im Kofferraum zu belassen. Wir besuchten um 9 Uhr die Akropolis, schlenderten durch Athen, aßen dort noch lecker Gyrus und ließen uns um 12:30 wieder von "unserem" Taxifahrer mit unserem eingelagertem Gepäck zum Flughafen fahren. Taxi Dimitris Bara: Tel: + 30 699 5247933 verlangte 15 Euro von Alimos bis Athen und weitere 50 Euro bis zum Flughafen (ein anderer Anbieter hätte für das selbe 90 Euro verlangt. Bis auf den Meltemi und das Tanken :( Verglichen mit Kroatien ist Griechenland mit seine günstigen Marina-Gebühren natürlich günstiger, aber ich hätte gerne mal 70 Euro für eine sichere Marina ausgegeben ... die gibt es halt ganz selten in Griechenland. Kosten Treibstoff: 80 Euro normal + 95 Euro Beschiss Marina Nea Epidavros 7 Euro Die Videos sind für Familie, Freunde und Interessierte.
