After 6 months in a Marina doing upgrades and fixing broken parts on our boat we purchased, we can finally take off on our First Passage. We are doing the passage in 3 parts. Ft Pierce to West Palm Beach in this FIrst one. We are working our way towards the Florida Keys. This was a great first passage for us other than not enough wind to sail. We did get a great show by dolphins, and had some rain squalls to deal with. But now that we are out on the water we will be exploring from here on out. After days tucked away in Island Head Creek waiting for the wind to ease, we finally make our move north – a 44 nautical mile sail across to the stunning Percy Isles. And along the way… we finally catch a fish! 🎣 Jason shares the fishing setup we use aboard ARGO (designed to keep things safe and manageable when battling fish offshore), while Kym turns the catch into a fresh tuna ceviche that absolutely hit the spot. Our first stop is South Percy Island – beautiful, but definitely a little rolly at anchor – before continuing on to the iconic Middle Percy Island. There, Jason delivers our hand-carved wooden ARGO sign to the legendary A-Frame at the Percy Island Yacht Club, joining the thousands of cruising boats who’ve left their mark before us. A very special moment for us aboard ARGO. And then… after more than 12 months of trying… we FINALLY got coconuts 🥥😂 A small victory perhaps, but one that brought an unreasonable amount of joy. This time we make huge progress towards finishing the epoxy work in our aft cabin by finishing the backing plates for the dyneema chainplate loops, building much stronger support for our mizzen mast foot and then continuing progress on the bilge drains around our new watertight battery box. I'm trying to get the epoxy work finished in the aft cabin before Jane comes for the weekend (especially as one of our sons is coming for a visit as well). We are refitting a 1977 Rival 38 Centre Cockpit Ketch for zero fossil fuel world cruising. One day we woke up to what it looked like some stinky oil spill - so we hurried up to get out - 15 NM north next to world famous Cokes break. We anchored next to newly built/ reclaimed island that will probably soon become another well manicured Maldives resort, that looks just like a paradise with $4000 per night rooms... Pretty interesting how they build those new islands! After we go to Thulusdhoo - just around the corner to find a truly spectacular place we did't wanted to leave. We meet lovely people, took a taxi boat to a Bar Boat - became a tourist for a night and had some fun. Next we were invited to dinner by @SamuraMaldives resort by the owner.... Amazing... Too bad Z's mom is leaving soon, and therefore we have to go back to Hulhumale, and get PCR tests to enter Crossroads marina... Join us!
