Ehitamine algas 2011. aasta varakevadel Tartus, kui Joosepil ja Ukul tuli tahtmine minna kaugeid maid avastama. Enne ehitama asumist polnud kumbki mees eriti purjetanud, rääkimata purjeka ehitamisest. Alguses oligi kõige raskem alustamine, ehk informatsiooni ja kontaktide kogumine. Plaanid telliti Uus-Meremaalt John Welsfordi käest. Mehed lootsid purjeka valmis saada ühe suvega, aga lõpuks läks neil aega neli aastat. Ehitamisse sekkus tavaelu, ehk kool, töö ja muud asised toimetused. Lõpuks oli aga kulutatud aeg seda väärt. purjekas.planet.ee
