Normally I have to go away from my family for my offshore work, on this occasion it was to get the boat where we needed it to be to set us up for our Canal trip down the entire length of France next year. It has been very tough to be apart, but we believe this decision is best for our family in the long-run. The X-Yachts 482 is one of the most successful models of the Danish yacht builder X- Yachts, whose core values are quality in design, construction and equipment. The 482 was built from ’96 to ’04 and are known for her clean hull lines with very pleasing sheer and broad transom with integral steps for ease of access from the water and tender. Since I was at the Cannes Boat Show shortly there after I arranged to meet the co-founder of Silent Yachts, Michael Köhler, and ask him dome of your questions in person.

Around 50 Hanse 400’s were imported by Team Windcraft and the model continues to be very much sort after. The upgraded ‘e’ is for epoxy, giving a stronger, stiffer, lighter and virtually osmosis proof hull. These yachts were so successful simply due to their ease of handling, solid construction, excellent performance, plus a blend of modern and classic good looks all in a magic 40 foot package. Saltair is the three cabin layout. The impressive owners cabin sits forward and there are two good sized double aft cabins. The head and shower includes a solid shower screen separating the space. The galley simply works with the refrigeration being top and side loading plus additional bench space folding over the stove when needed. The saloon table lowers to become additional accommodation and opposite we find the combination nav station / control station and coffee table with two swivelling seats. Being a Hanse, she boasts a self-tacking headsail plus in Saltair’s case genoa tracks have been factory fitted and the inventory includes an overlapping genoa with pole to satisfy any club racing desires. The swept back ‘L’ shaped keel is lead and the keel bolts and backing plates are stainless steel and massive. The standing rigging has just been replaced in mid-2019 along with a brand new B&G instrumentation. Heute kann man die biozide Wirkung von Kupfer als Antifouling auf elegantere Weise nutzen. Und das hat in Form von CopperCoat für uns ausschließlich Vorteile. Welche das sind, erfährst Du im Video. Das alte Antifouling ist schon runter (letztes Video #8) und jetzt wird es Zeit, die neue Beschichtung aufzubringen. Mit CopperCoat haben wir bisher nur gute Erfahrungen gemacht, auch auf unserem ehemaligen kleineren Segelboot, der Marie, die wir verkauft haben. Das Aufbringen ist allerdings schon 5 Jahre her und seitdem musste der Rumpf nur mal gereinigt werden, als sie sowieso für die Einwinterung an Land gestellt wurde. Unsere 7seas soll ja dauerhaft im Wasser bleiben, deshalb haben wir nach einer Möglichkeit gesucht, Osmose vorzubeugen. Es war viel Arbeit, das CopperCoat selbst aufzubringen, allerdings lohnt es sich tatsächlich. Nach Abschluss der Arbeiten wurde die 7seas noch ins Wasser gebracht (endlich) und wir haben den Mast gestellt. Das Video dient nicht komplett als Anleitung für CopperCoat, deckt aber schon viele Infos ab von Vorbereitung bis hin zum Anschleifen. In 2006 the Bavaria factory was in full production. Yachts rolled off the production line with staggering efficiency. Built like a long-distance cruiser, the Bavaria 46 Yacht has an excellent pedigree. First impressions when boarding this yacht from astern as you pass through the transom entry point she feels like a fifty footer. The extra-wide transom twin helm position was a revolution when it was introduced on this model. At the time yacht, designers wanted to make boats go faster by making the aft more buoyant. Extending the aft to achieve more buoyancy would have involved having an enormous central helm position. The idea of dividing the helm position changed yacht design forever. With a twin Helm position, Bavaria could make yachts in the range faster, offer better accommodation and improve visibility for steering when healing. A twin Helm position also allowed for easy access through the transom. The six winch sail control system in the cockpit means you won't need to leave the cockpit to put a reef in or adjust the sails. Walking around the deck; she has a solid feel, and as I move around the wide walkway decks, they are a typical feature of Bavarian Yachts. A great above deck feature is the forward storage locker, it's vast and will accommodate all sorts of kit including warps fenders and additional sails. Below deck, the saloon with a set back integrated linear galley works perfectly on a yacht of this size. Light fills the saloon through multiple hatches giving her an even bigger feel than her forty-six feet. Cabins are ample size and are served by twin heads. We recommend a viewing of this popular yacht, she is keenly priced to sell and is open to sensible offers with some small cosmetic upgrading needed.

Sure, Cutwater Boats’ new 30 Sport Top is one big toy. However, a closer look reveals a trailerable cruiser loaded with so many innovative features it would take a year’s worth of boating weekends to discover them all. One feature that sets apart the Sport Top model is the pilothouse that now fully opens to the aft deck by rolling up or removing the soft enclosure. The original Cutwater 30 is a hardtop sedan made for colder climates, and the pilothouse is an enclosed structure with an aft cabin door. “We decided to do the Sport Top for markets like Florida where boat owners want it more open,” says Mark Mansfield, Cutwater Boats’ National Sales Manager. The use of high-tech Garmin electronics continues at the starboard- side helm, where the optional twin 12-inch multi-function displays guide, track and inform the operator. Windlass, windshield wipers, compass, and VHF come standard, and the controls for the Volvo Penta D6 370-horsepower diesel are fly-by-wire.
