** NOW SOLD ** Shelby is a sought after Stars and Stripes, blue hulled 1998 Beneteau 50 that is now listed exclusively for sale with the team at YOTI on the Gold Coast. The Beneteau 50 combines a Bruce Farr designed hull with a tried and tested layout, proven over thousands of miles. Her fast hull has balanced lines for directional control and is easily driven by her in-mast furling mainsail and furling genoa, great for short-handed sailing. Her current owner upgraded her in 2018 for his dream cruise to the Far East and back to the Gold Coast. These upgrades include new Stainless Steel rigging, Staysail, 6 pax Life raft, Highfield rib with outboard, Dometic 16,000 BTU Air Conditioning (saloon and owners’ cabin) and saloon upholstery. Additionally, upgrades in 2019 include a new Mainsail, Genoa, Lithium batteries, and upgrade of electrical charging system. On deck, the very generous cockpit is well shaded, safe and great for entertainment. The twin wheels make for easy access from the bathing platform to the cockpit and interior. Her mainsheet traveller is forward of the cockpit, out of harm’s way and her electric winches make for easy sail handling, all from the safety of the cockpit. (The port aft cabin is used for additional storage and the head features a small washing machine instead of the WC, which can easily be reinstated.) The Beneteau 50 features a substantial saloon and open plan galley, with central island that serves as additional galley worktop and storage as well as part of the seating arrangement. Cooking is on the gimballed Force 10 gas hob and oven and perishables stored in the substantial freezer and fridge. Aft of the galley is the dedicated navigation area with electrical panel; the stereo, VHF and HF radio mounted on the opposite side, at the rear end of the settee. This vessel is fully equipped for world cruising, in comfort and safety. Raymarine instrumentation, including radar, AIS and Axiom plotters at each helm, Ipad with Raymarine instrument integration and Icom HF radio. She has a 6.5 kw Fisher Panda generator for charging and air-conditioning, 110v and 240v inverters, isolation transformer, bow thruster and very large fuel and water tanks. Shelby has just been slipped (Feb ’20) at the Boatworks, Gold Coast Marine Precinct for new antifouling, hull polish and prop speed. Her mast was lifted out to install a new mainsail furling mandrel and service of the internal furling components. Bruce Farr intended here to create an economical, safe and fast Racer / Cruiser that was easy to handle with a modern sail plan. Rampant was first launched in 1985 and is a cold moulded timber hull with fibreglass deck. The impressive build quality of Rampant is easily seen when stepping down below. In 2007 the yacht enjoyed a major refurbishment which included new toe rails, new stanchions, sea rails, new windows, deck re glassed & new deck grip, stern cut out & new rudder designed and fitted to allow stern access, repainted & sign written. Further to this the 21 hp Nanni diesel which is still under warranty was installed new in just 2019 and has logged only around 20 hours. The sail plan and rig are fractional with single swept back spreaders, no running backstays. This set up is modern, efficient and simple to handle. The sail wardrobe is large. Instruments are by Raymarine and include autopilot and chart plotter. Space below deck is refreshingly welcoming for what was intended primarily as a racer. There is a spacious saloon with settee berths with lee cloths, a drop down saloon table, the practical galley sits to port and nav station with internal ice box to starboard. A large V berth is forward which accommodates the sail wardrobe if needed plus a marine head is fitted which can be shut off from the saloon with a door. There are two quarter berths. This is a seriously well crafted yacht which will appeal to those wanting a little old school real yacht quality and style while keeping the ability to sail fast and easy. The yachts previous race results proudly displayed on her saloon bulkhead tell a very impressive story. This year I was invited to be a judge for the inaugural Rossinavi Design Challenge, an Award created to encourage young designers to think of innovative new yacht designs that could be offered for sale by Rossinavi. I have to admit that I felt a weight of responsibility towards the designers who had put so much work into their projects! The Design Challenge trophy was awarded at the SeaTec Exhibition last week, and I had a film crew on hand to help me record the event and show you some of the wonderful applicants.

** NOW SOLD ** Belle Aire is a 2007 Lagoon 500 with Flybridge in excellent condition and now listed exclusively listed for sale with YOTI Multihull at the Boatworks at Coomera on the Gold Coast, Queensland. Commissioned for her first owners in Australia, Belle Aire was specified for long term blue water cruising. The original design brief for the Lagoon 500 was to create a very comfortable, stylish floating apartment capable of double digit boat speeds. From the moment you board Belle Aire, there is a feeling of space and light. Her cockpit seems like an extension of the saloon, with large U-shaped seating around an outdoor dining table. The large, light and scenic saloon has a very complete split galley to port with a 4-burner cooker/oven, dishwasher, front opening fridge, ample s/steel galley bench tops and great storage. To starboard is a huge dinette with L shaped seating with clever folding table. Centrally forward is the navigation desk with duplicate navigation instruments and engine panels. Moving below, the beautifully bright ensuite Owners' cabin is starboard and aft. It features an island style queen sized berth and extensive cupboards and storage in the passage to the ensuite head with enclosed shower. Starboard forward, with its own access from the saloon, is an athwartships orientated queen size berth, with separate toilet and enclosed shower. Forward in the port hull is another athwartships orientated queen sized berth, with separate toilet and enclosed shower. Midships in the port hull is a pantry with freezer and second fridge, a washing machine and more storage. The fourth cabin, port aft, is also has and ensuite and has an island style queen-sized berth. The Flybridge is set up to control the whole boat. Visibility from the helm with is fabulous, with all the electric maneuvering and mainsheet winches within easy reach. At the helm is a Raymarine GPS plotter with radar/AIS and additional Raymarine sailing instruments. A forward cockpit with own bimini makes for a great second entertainment area, especially whilst at anchor. Her easy to handle rig features a mainsail with lazy-jacks and boom bag, furler self-tacking jib and gennaker on a removable furler. "Belle Aire" is powered by twin 75 hp Yanmar diesel engines and an Onan 11 kva genset. A 3.4 meter rib with 15 hp outboard is stored on the davits with a hydraulic Passerelle for stern to berthing. Fully air conditioned, Belle Aire is the ultimate family cruising platform or alternatively a very capable, safe and stylish blue-water cruising catamaran. The Catalina 320 is simply one of the world’s most successful production yachts. These yachts were built with comfort, strength and sail ability in mind. Murphy’s Law includes a Raymarine Auto Pilot (2007) and Tacktick Instruments (2009). A large bimini (2019) protects the cockpit which boasts cushions, a folding table, princess seats and a large semi-open transom with fold down stainless swim ladder. A mainsail mast slide track with Harken cars was added in 2007 which makes for very easy handling and both the mainsail and genoa were replaced new in 2015. ** NOW SOLD ** Fidra is a 2006 Hanse 370e that is now listed exclusively for sale with the team at YOTI on Sydney Harbour. Representing one of the most popular models globally by the German manufacturers, the 370e's still prove to be extremely sort after. The 'e' represents the epoxy used in the hulls layup making for a lighter / stiffer / stronger and virtually osmosis proof hull for life. Fidra is the two cabin option consisting of the generous owners cabin forward, good sized saloon opposite dual seating which doubles as the nav area, impressive head and shower, a big extended galley leading to the internal access to the storage garage (also accessible via the cockpit) and finally the second large double cabin. The storage garage comes with a mattress so the space doubles as accommodation when needed. Lee cloths are fitted throughout. The stand out features on Fidra (further to the usual easy / quick / quality that comes with the brand) is her overall condition and also her solid list of extras; overlapping genoa (in addition to the self tacking jib), spinnaker, storm jib on a removable inner forestay, a proper electric autopilot plus a new Hydravane windvane steering system with independent removable rudder, the full six winches (a major upgrade on original purchase) plus an additional electric multipurpose winch in the cockpit which assists with sail hoisting and reefing etc. Standing rigging was replaced new in 2014. The chart plotter at the helm and many other electronics were installed new in just 2019. There is a second chart plotter at the nav station. These yachts are simply a joy to sail either racing with a crew or quite literally cruising just one up. The mainsheet is naturally controlled by the helm on an upgraded traveller. In the owners words; "Fidra has spent most of her life in the Swan River in Perth doing mainly jib and main short river racing. She has sailed a few times to our local island 'Rottnest' and has competed in several Port Geographe regattas (spinnakers included) where we regularly finished in the top 3 or 4 boats in our division; one year we won our division for the week outright. Much celebration followed - "Quick boats those Hanses", cried the crowd! Fidra has recently arrived in Sydney from Perth via the Great Australian Bight. We averaged 6 knots over the 2200 NM voyage.
