She is heavily constructed, has a full keel, high quality joinery and is purpose-built for offshore passage making. The interior is well designed and the craftsmanship is well-executed. She has great lines and will turn heads when you enter a harbor. Often described as bullet-proof, the specs on her fiberglass thickness is 1.12” at the way of the keel, between .5” and .61” at the turn of the bilge and her topsides come in at .375”. Although most pilothouse/motorsailers come up short in both sailing and motoring performance, the Hartmann-Palmer 46 excels at both. Perry designed boats perform well under sail and the Seamaster 46 is no exception. She has an easily driven hull design with fuller aft sections which aid when motoring. When under power, her 85 HP diesel effortlessly pushes her along at 8 knots. She has a skeg-hung rudder and a modified fin keel, both ideal for cruising. Copy Cat is an excellent example of this sought after design. She carries 334 gallons of diesel and 400 gallons of water—she truly is a long-range cruiser. Her arch sports 2 wind generators and dinghy davits. The interior layout is superb. She has large ports throughout the salon and pilothouse which provide excellent views of what is going on outside—even when seated on the settees. Her huge head with separate shower, master suite with walk-around queen, forward cabin with double berth, spacious salon, energy efficient stand-up AC/DC fridge/freezer and inside helm provide all the comforts of home. Her outside steering station allows the skipper to enjoy the fresh air, while the inside helm permits the skipper to hide from the elements in climate-controlled comfort. The lower cockpit with transom door and swim platform facilitates diving, swimming and fishing activities. Copy Cat has undergone an extensive refit over the past five years. She is well-constructed and has benefited from new chain plates, standing rigging, running rigging, arch, new fuel tanks, removal of teak decks, new sails, new furling unit, new stack pack and much more.
