The complete build of the Jongert sailing yacht Impression captured in 1994/1995 by one of the employees of Jongert after receiving a camera from the owner. The owner wanted every aspect of the build to be captured, from welding the basic frame to creating the handcrafted details, placing the masts and all the steps in between. He has been very involved in the building process, and visited the yard frequently from the start of construction to the maiden voyage on the Ijsselmeer in The Netherlands. As part of the agreement between the owner and Jongert Shipyard, the yacht was shown at Boat Dusseldorf 1994 as the largest sailing yacht ever displayed at the show. It was quite an operation, as the keel had to be installed after the boat show, because otherwise she would not be able to get into the hall in Dusseldorf. Afterwards she returned to the shipyard to add the keel and install the rigging and sails. The owner is an experienced sailor and has travelled to many unexplored placed on Impression. It's an OCEAN ALEXANDER 45 Classico Sedan built in 2005 and I wish we had seen one like this when we were searching for our liveaboard because it has a lot to offer! My personal favs were: massive Flybridge, safest & the most comfortable walkaround I have ever seen on this size of a yacht, very interesting design of the heads, good 2nd cabin for a couple, and a very bright and airy galley! It's a challenge to travel right now, which is a problem when you need to promote an entire fleet of yachts through video! Flying our ISTEC Parasailor spinnaker for the first time, as we sail downwind from Virgin Gorda to Tortola, BVI. Then tour the island along with the drone. As we sail west to Tortola, the wind is perfect to try our new ISTEC Parasailor spinnaker (228sqm), which Oana managed to find for sale on the internet. We are a bit nervous, but all goes well for a first sail. Not so with the drone, which was not cooperating and used up one of its nine-lives when we try to fly it! After snuffling the Parasailor, we make a lunch stop at Sandy Cay, next to Jost Van Dyke Island, then anchor in Cane Garden Bay and have an evening sunset stroll on the beach. Next day we move onto a mooring in Sopers Hole and tour all around Tortola in a rental car. 14-17 March 2019 Visited: Jost Van Dyke, Virgin Gorda, Sandy Cay, Tortola, Cane Garden Bay, Sopers Hole Wharf, Nany Cay Marina, Road Town, Beef Island, Camanoe Island, Tellis Bay, Little Bay, Guana Island, Rogue Bay, Brewers Bay, Paraquita Bay, Christian’s bar on Road Town waterfront.

We make our final journey aboard S/V Against The Wind. And say farewell to the vessel that brought us to our dreams. This one was a little emotional for us. ** NOW SOLD ** Evening Star is an S&S 30 listed for sale with YOTI on Pittwater. This is a little stunner, penned by the famous Olin Stephens of Sparkman and Stephens, built by John Oliver in Cairns, and launched in just 2003. Evening star is comparable to the Yankee 30’s built in the US however she differs with more modern features and a larger more open interior. This classic was designed to be a solid sea going yacht with good performance and elegant lines. The keel is lead and the rudder is protected by a skeg. In Evening Star, not only is she a gorgeous yacht but she’s a modern build and has been well cared for. She features an updated Yanmar 30 Hp shaft drive engine installed new in 2011, along with standing rigging. Instrumentation is by Raymarine and includes a large colour chart plotter down below plus tiller pilot. The furling genoa was replaced new in 2019, the mainsail presents well and there is a storm jib and trysail. The boom bag and lazy jacks were new in 2017 and the dodger and bimini in 2018. There is a practical galley to port, fully enclosed head to starboard, a beautiful and comfortable saloon, open double V berth forward plus an aft open berth. There is very useful cockpit storage. A delightful afternoon at famous The Baths Virgin Gorda. Road tour of Virgin Gorda island and aerial views of all its highlights. Following our couple of days in the north-east of Virgin Gorda where we anchored in Oil Nut Bay, we now arrive to Spanish Town in the south and pay a visit to The Baths, likely the most visited place in all the British Virgin Islands, and for good reason. Where the huge granite boulders meet the shoreline, shallow pools of turquoise water can be found among the rock giants, with endless other nooks & crannies to explore. Wonderful scenery and always fun place to visit. Hey Guys, So the big decision I had to make was whether or not to sell my beloved narrowboat Grayswood. I had to make this decision following an opportunity to buy a 57ft narrowboat. After living nearly two years in our self-converted campervan we decided we needed more space. So we decided to purchase a boat after spending some time on our friend’s narrowboat. Grayswood was conveniently located less that 5 minutes from my work and was found kind of by accident. I was visiting a friend who was staying in Aston Marina and whilst we were out walking the dogs, I seen the advert for Grayswood. I said to my friend “that looks a nice boat” and as I said it the marina manager appeared and asked if we would like a look inside. Naturally we did. After looking inside the boat, we made an offer after going back for a second viewing, after some negotiations within a week she was ours pending a survey. She was hauled out the following week and the survey went well. We kept her out on the hard standing for a further six weeks whilst we renovated the insides including fitting a new kitchen and bathroom.
