Auf einem Hochseetrimaran im Rennmodus vor Gran Canaria. Aus 17 kn TWS macht die Crew um Erwan Le Roux auf der Ciela Village 27 kn SOG. Trotz Ölzeug waren wir durch bis auf die Unterhose. ▬ Über diesen Film ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ Wir hatten unser Dingy verliehen. Somit konnte das Team der Ciela Village um Erwan Le Roux unkompliziert und kurzfristig einen Schaden an der Crashbox des Mittelrumpfes ihres Hochseetrimarans reparieren. Als Dank wurden wir für gute drei Stunden zu einer Trainingseinheit mitgenommen. Ein echtes Erlebnis mit solch einem Ungetüm der OceanFifty Klasse über oder eher durch die Wellen zu segeln. Ja, wir haben uns krampfhaft am Trampolin festgeklammert und waren wahrscheinlich schrecklich im Weg. Aber wir alle hatten einen Riesenspaß und Einblick in eine Welt des Segelns, die so sehr anders ist als unsere. Insgesamt 7 Hochseetrimarane nehmen an der ProSailingTour in Brest, La Rochelle, Toulon und eben in Las Palmas GC teil. Die Ciela Village konnte den 3. **Update** The boat has been moved by the new owner. ** When I filmed and edited this video, all I knew about the boat was what was on the papers on the stern that you can see in the beginning of the video. Those papers clearly state "For Sale $1.00" and also, "Owner: Koehler Kraft." It's become clear that those papers were misleading and that there are a lot of legal hurdles to get through to take possession of this vessel. I advise anyone who wants to take this project on to get a good lawyer to assist them. Please see the information that KKC wanted me to add below. **7/12/21 KKC Update** "The boat is still available to the first person to come and tow it away. Here is what you need to know about acquiring Gypsy for a restoration project: 1. Unfortunately we do not have any space in or out of the water to store this boat. It must leave our facility immediately. The diesel engine is not reliably operational at this time. The boat must be towed away. 2. Any party requesting a complete restoration by our yard, be advised, we have restoration projects under contract that are utilizing all of our resources for at least the next 6 months. A restoration to top condition would cost at least $175k. If you are prepared to contract the work with the yard and post a retainer the yard will facilitate storage options at your expense. 3. The last owner of the boat was not a US Citizen and left the USA. We have not been able to contact him. This makes acquiring a new title difficult. It is a long and costly process that we are not willing to undertake at this time. Whoever acquires the boat will have to to arrange the clear title. 4. Dry storage would be the best option for a do it yourself restorer. There are several inland storage facilities that exist where the boat could be transported. Once moved, the restoration work could be done there be yourself or a contractor of your choice. I would guesstimate the cost to decommission and move the boat inland would cost $4-5k. Inland storage typically costs $1000-2000 / month depending on location. 5. We have not inspected this vessel and make no guarantees as to its condition. It does appear that many hours and money have been spent restoring this boat. There is considerable work to be done. 6. Owning a 50’ sailboat is not an inexpensive endeavor. Slip rent insurance and basic upkeep would be in excess of $2000/month for a boat in good condition. You would need to budget for this and have a minimum budget of $50k in addition to monthly expenses if you were to take the boat inland for DIY restoration. If you are not a lover of vintage vessels do not pursue ownership of this vessel. " **7/8/21 KKC Update** "1. This boat was abandoned at KKC facilities. The owner has defaulted on his contract with KKC and is believed to have departed the USA indefinitely. He is not a US citizen. KKC has exhausted all resources to locate him. There is not a title for the boat, the party who takes possession will be solely responsible in acquiring a title. 2. KKC is not selling this vessel. Any party who assumes responsibility for the vessel will remove it immediately from KKC property. KKC will release any lien against the vessel upon its departure. 3. KKC is not in a position to perform work on this vessel. 4. The vessel is available on a first come first serve basis. The party will remove the vessel promptly at their own expense. 5. Any temporary accommodation of the vessel could be considered by KKC president with the following conditions: -A minimum cash retainer of fifteen thousand dollars will be paid to KKC to be used to dispose of the vessel in the event the owner defaults with any contract or agreement with KKC and or any damages to KKC facilities, property or any third party property. -The owner will pay KKC short term accommodation fees of $2/foot per day. An agreed upon length of stay will increase at a rate of $1/foot/day after the end of term. -Any work performed to the vessel must be pre-approved in writing by the president of KKC -Any person working on the vessel must be insured and name KKC as additionally insured." Before we knew it we were signing up for sailing lessons and taking offshore sailing courses. Last year we started looking at boats for sale. Like every masterpiece, the Pershing 108 is a unique and incomparable work of art thanks to the customisability of its interiors: colours, furnishings and designer pieces. The same standard layout, with four guest cabins and three crew cabins, can be customised as well. As on all Pershing boats, the onboard technology is state-of-the-art. Not only do three engines reduce weight and make maintenance easier, but they allow transfers to be made using just the middle engine, with imperceptible noise and extraordinary range as it glides over 1,070 nautical miles at 10 knots. Then if we want to use two engines, the cruising speed rises to 32 knots, which becomes 42 knots with the full power of all three engines (still accompanied by a delightful silence of between 69 and 75 dBA). Another winning feature of the Pershing 108 is the liveability and spaciousness at the disposal of the yacht owner and his or her guests. Total volume is almost that of a 115-foot yacht (510 cubic metres versus the 535 cubic metres of a 115). Liveability obviously has everything to gain from this extra space. When the stern folding door is activated, an enormous room of 70 square metres leading to the spacious cockpit is created. Designed by Bruce Farr, the 40.7 has gained an international reputation not only as a fast cruiser but also for their exploits on the racetrack – particularly under the IMS rule. Ningaloo Dreaming is a 3 cabin layout with two double quarter berths and a v-berth forward. There is a good sized head with plenty of room to shower in comfort, large dinette with in line settees, L-shaped galley and functional nav station. ** NOW SOLD** Frangipani is a Northshore 340MKII built in 2004 and launched in 2005, she is one of the very last Northshore yachts built and is listed exclusively for sale with YOTI Pittwater. Not only is this yacht one of the very latest of the Australian built Northshore’s, she also presents extremely well and has enjoyed a serious list of updates. All standing rigging was replaced new in 2018. Brand new B&G instrumentation was installed in 2018 and includes a 7” Vulcan plotter and two instrument displays in the cockpit plus a real auto-pilot with an under deck hydraulic ram. Koh Khai Nai and Koh Khai Nok are two islands on the eastern side of Phuket. Both islands are regarded as party islands in non Covid times. The islands are normally surrounded by speeds boats and loaded with tourists hanging out and partying at the make shift bars on the islands. However today, we get to see a different version of Koh Khai Nai as Covid has basically shutdown Phuket tourism. This week we are joined by Howard from Simpson Marine in Phuket. Simpson marine is the local Lagoon dealer and often has other boats for sale that were traded in on a new Lagoon. If you are looking for a boat in SE Asia I would highly recommend getting in touch with them as their after sales service is as good as it gets. As with any boat, Captain King has had things break and other challenges come up after the sale. Simpson Marine has been there the whole time to help him out, even 6 months after Captain King purchased his Seawind from them. Captain King's sailing catamaran is a Seawind 1000 XL2. We were quite impressed with its light wind ability. We were in very light winds for this trip to Koh Khai Nai. We couldn't believe that with the Code 0 up we were going 75%+ of wind speed. Next week we will be hitting up Koh Khai Nok.
