Am Mittwoch, d. 23.03.2022 konnte ich im Ankermanöver vor der Marina Riviere Sens an der Süd-West-Ecke von Guadeloupe plötzlich nur noch nach Backbord nicht aber nach Steuerbord manövrieren. Nachdem wir doch irgendwie den Anker sicher ausgebracht hatten, stellte sich sehr schnell das Undenkbare heraus: wir hatten den Backbordpropeller verloren. ▬ Über diesen Film ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ Nun galt es vor allem die Ersatzteile zu organisieren. Nach einigem hin und her entschied ich mich sowohl den Propeller als auch den RopeCutter direkt bei den jeweiligen Herstellern zu bestellen. Mit Hilfe der Marinieros konnten wir am Montag darauf also am 28.03.2022 in die Marina verholen. Am selben Tag wurden sowohl bei AmbassadorMarine in GB als auch bei Flexofold in DK die entsprechenden Ersatzteile geordert. Nun begann vor allem das große Warten welches wir uns mit Erkundungstouren auf Goudeloupe vertrieben haben. Die Lieferzeiten waren sehr, sehr unterschiedlich und dadurch geprägt, dass es generell kaum möglich ist mit dem jeweiligen Fahrer direkten Kontakt aufzunehmen oder z.B. die Mobilfunknummer zu hinterlegen. So drohte eine Lieferung bereits wieder an den Absender zurückgesandt zu werden, da deren Annahme angeblich zweimal abgelehnt worden sei – wie absurd ist das denn. Aufklärung verschaffte Marina von der Ile Segal mit Ihrem Engagement in französischer Sprache. Herzlichen Dank. Die eine Lieferung dauerte eine gute Woche, die andere 14 Tage. Der Schock saß aber tief als sich herausstellte, dass die eine Lieferung unvollständig war. Allein um dies zu monieren, vergingen wieder 4 Tage – es war zum wahnsinnig werden. One of our biggest fears sailing across oceans is sinking out at sea, along with pirates, lightning, and injury. We hear about boats hitting containers and whales out in the middle of nowhere. We run out of luck 1000 miles from shore and strike a UFO mid ocean during our second transatlantic bluewater crossing. #sailing #yacht #collision More about us at https://www.sweetruca.com After having a collision with a whale in the middle of the night, we have to get in the water mid ocean and inspect the damage to the rudder. So who is this crazy sailing couple making fun videos to share? Well, we are Kate and Curtis. We both sold up and headed out to sea, with the goal of sailing around the world via Cape Horn and the Cape of Good Hope. We brought our mixed rescue dog along with us as she loves sailing and swimming too! Our boat is a year 2000 J Boats J/46. We searched for 3 years for our perfect sailboat for sale, when we found it, we knew it was the one. We spent 6 months re-fitting it in Rhode Island and then went for our shakedown voyage in Maine. We stopped in Annapolis for a bit to do some more refit work and offshore modifications, then we set off to the open sea. We went to the Bahamas, Miami, US Virgin Islands, BVI, Grenada, Carriacou, St. Maarten, where we enjoyed outdoor adventures, scuba diving, and have now did an Atlantic Crossing to the Azores where we had a chance to fly our DJI drone (and learned how to fly a drone from a boat) and one of our favorite past times, mountain biking. After leaving the Azores we sailed to Tenerife. From there we have left on a huge voyage, transatlantic again, this time to South America as we head for our goal of rounding cape horn to enter the pacific ocean. We have sailed over 10,000 bluewater miles to date. We watched other sailing channels before we left as well. We even considered van life, a tiny home, or a motorhome / RV. Some of the channels we enjoyed were Gone with the Wynns, Project Atticus, and MJ Sailing. We didn't really set out to be influencers, but we wanted to return the good karma and pass our inspiration and knowledge along. The Dufour Catamarans 48 is probably not what one would expect to be a sleeper hit a boat show. It's not all that surprising considering Dufour produced the Nautitech line of cats for nearly 2 decades that they might get the itch to re-enter the ring. Vivid is an incredible yacht to take you on an adventure, no matter how large or small, that you’ll never forget. Built by Jongert she oozes the pedigree she was built with, she has always been very well loved and maintained and in 2021 is emerging from her latest refit with with a freshly resprayed hull in 2019 she had all new soft furnishing inside and out and is looking amazing. The new neutral coloured cabins are soothing and gives her a whole new feel. In 2020 she came to the UK and cruised on the South Coast, wintering in Portsmouth this winter. Come April 2021 she is heading north up to the West Coast of Scotland basing herself between Clyde and Dunstaffnage before hopefully heading back to the Med late summer to catch the last of the autumn sun. On deck the tender sits at the front of the yacht, when removed, it creates a sunbathing area. Heading inside you enter the pilot house, the rear windows can be lowered to allow the breeze to wave through or if you prefer you can keep them shut and have the area air-conditioned or heated! With two tables she comfortably seats 8, passing through the helm station you go below into the saloon, there is an L shape sofa to the left and a dining table on the right, heading aft there are 2 identical twin cabins with en-suite and at the rear the vast owners cabin with sofa and desk. Well, we are Kate and Curtis. We both sold up and headed out to sea, with the goal of sailing around the world via Cape Horn and the Cape of Good Hope. We brought our mixed rescue dog along with us as she loves sailing and swimming too! Our boat is a year 2000 J Boats J/46. We searched for 3 years for our perfect sailboat for sale, when we found it, we knew it was the one. We spent 6 months re-fitting it in Rhode Island and then went for our shakedown voyage in Maine. We stopped in Annapolis for a bit to do some more refit work and offshore modifications, then we set off to the open sea. We went to the Bahamas, Miami, US Virgin Islands, BVI, Grenada, Carriacou, St. Maarten, where we enjoyed outdoor adventures, scuba diving, and have now did an Atlantic Crossing to the Azores where we had a chance to fly our DJI drone (and learned how to fly a drone from a boat) and one of our favorite past times, mountain biking. After leaving the Azores we sailed to Tenerife. From there we have left on a huge voyage, transatlantic again, this time to South America as we head for our goal of rounding cape horn to enter the pacific ocean. We have sailed over 10,000 bluewater miles to date. We watched other sailing channels before we left as well. We even considered van life, a tiny home, or a motorhome / rv. Some of the channels we enjoyed were Gone with the Wynns, Project Atticus, and MJ Sailing. We didn't really set out to be influencers, but we wanted to return the good karma and pass our inspiration and knowledge along. Wir sind gespannt auf euer feedback. ▬ Über diesen Film ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ Der Besuch beginnt mit einer ordentlichen Verspätung des Flugzeuges aus Paris und dem Verlust des Reisegepäckes. Irgendwann ist es so spät, dass trotz Covid19 keiner uns mehr aufhält ins verwaiste Flughafengebäude vorzudringen. Caro und Kaja sind mit Abstand die letzten, die den Airport verlassen. Anlässlich des Besuches liegt MariaNoa in der Marina Bas-de-Fort und wir haben ein Auto gemietet. So fahren wir am nächsten Vormittag in den Süden von La Basse Terre und besuchen im dortigen Regenwald das Naturschutzgebiet und den Wasserfall Chutes du Carbet. Auf dem Weg fahren wir bei Capesterre belle Eau durch eine faszinierende Palmenallee mit riesigen Palmen. Eigentlich lieben wir die unbefestigten Trampelpfade durch den Regenwald. Hier aber sind die Wege hervorragend präpariert und das Naturschutzgebiet erläutert. So holen wir uns ausnahmsweise keine dreckigen Schuhe und drohen nicht im Matsch auszurutschen. Der Weg zum Wasserfall führt durch eine faszinierende Pflanzenwelt. Alles ist so satt und üppig. Die Pflanzen sowie jedes einzelne Blatt so riesig, dass wir uns dahinter verstecken können. Wir wähnen uns im Dschungel von Yurassic Park und erwarten jeden Moment, dass die Raptoren um die Ecke kommen. Der Chutes du Carbet hat eine gewaltige Fallhöhe. Leider kann man ihn nur aus gewisser Entfernung bewundern. Da wir noch etwas Zeit haben, fahren wir an den Plage de la Caravelle. Er gilt als einer der schönsten Strände von Guadeloupe. Am nächsten Morgen verholen wir nach Le Gosier. Da die kleine vorgelagerte Insel gleich um die Ecke liegt, lohnt es sich nicht, die Segel zu setzen. Außerdem geht es nach Osten also gegenan. Hinter ausgedehnten Flachs ankert man hier zwar nicht windgeschützt, Schwell gibt es aber nahezu keinen. Zeit um die Sicherheitseinweisung nachzuholen. Habt Ihr konkrete Fragen? Brigitta war natürlich erst einmal vollkommen überrascht, obwohl eine Weltumsegelung wesentlich besser in Ihr berufliches Leben als Vorruheständlerin passte als in meins. In den letzten 6 Monaten hat Sie aber eine erstaunliche Entwicklung hinter sich gebracht und freut sich auf unser großes Abenteuer genau wie ich.
