Einhand von Guadeloupe nach Antigua. Brigitta ist in Deutschland und ich setze die Reise fort. Die Überfahrt von Guadeloupe nach Antigua war seglerisch unbefriedigend. ▬ Über diesen Film ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ Im erste Drittel musste ich motoren, da der Wind einfach zu schwach war, um MariaNoa ausreichend durch die Wellen zu ziehen. Dann frischte der Wind auf, drehte allerdings gleichzeitig gegen Nord sodass ungefähr nach einem zweiten Drittel klar wurde, dass der Kurs auf English Harbour niemals zu halten sein wird. Da ich gleichzeitig ein ungeduldiger Mensch bin, habe ich die Segel eingeholt und das letzte Drittel leider wieder motort. Von Süden also von Guadeloupe kommend liegt einem auf Antigua English Harbour direkt vor der Nase. Die tief eingeschnittene Bucht beginnt mit der Freeman Bay, wo auch ich geankert habe. Diese ist berüchtigt für ihre drehenden Winde. Unter MariaNoa kreisten beängstigend Schwärme von großen Raubfischen. An einem Steg vor den historischen Gebäuden von Nelsons Dockyard reihen sich die Megayachten. Eine für die Karibik überraschende britisch distinguierte Stimmung, andererseits endlich einmal wieder etwas Kultur. Hier wird geputzt und gewienert aber eben nicht gesegelt. Wohl das Schicksal vieler Traumyachten. Anfang Mai ist Sailing Week. Ich hoffe alle diese Yachten dann in Aktion wiederzusehen. Der gesamte Nordosten von Antigua ist von Korallenriffen geprägt und insofern ausgesprochen flach. Passagen sind exakt zu beachten, sonst gibt es ein großes Problem. Hinter den Korallenriffen und diversen kleinen Inseln liegt man mit Blick aufs offene Meer zwar windig aber ohne Schwell. Habt Ihr konkrete Fragen? Brigitta war natürlich erst einmal vollkommen überrascht, obwohl eine Weltumsegelung wesentlich besser in Ihr berufliches Leben als Vorruheständlerin passte als in meins. In den letzten 6 Monaten hat Sie aber eine erstaunliche Entwicklung hinter sich gebracht und freut sich auf unser großes Abenteuer genau wie ich. Mit Ihrem Kran ist es unmöglich MariaNoa aus dem Wasser zu heben. Ratlosigkeit macht sich breit. Nach einem konfusen Pallaver über mehr oder weniger realisierbare Alternativen, die alle weitere entsetzliche Zeit bedeutet hätten, biete Frances an, den Propeller unter Wasser zu montieren. Nach vielleicht einer Stunde sind der RopeCutter und der Propeller montiert. Da es inzwischen spät am Abend ist, verbleibe ich über Nacht an der Pier und kehre am folgenden Morgen diesmal mit eigener Kraft zur Marina Riviere Sens zurück, um einerseits meine Festmacherleine abzuholen und bedanke mich anderseits nochmals bei Kristel und Philipp, nicht ohne sie zu bitten, sich in unserem Gästebuch zu verewigen. Andrea und Jürgen möchten ihren nächsten Lebensabschnitt auf dem Wasser verbringen und open-end um die Welt segeln. Dafür suchen wir einen Katamaran mit viel Wohnraum und Komfort. Dabei liegt auch klar die Priorität bei der Bootssuche. Er soll einfach zu handeln sein mit allen Leinen am Steuerstand, Eignervariante, nicht zu groß, dennoch möglichst viel Raum bieten mit einem von beiden Seiten zugänglichen Bett. Das kennen wir ja von Centercockpitschiffen, die haben häufig ein Inselbett in der Heckkabine. Bei Katamaranen um die 40 Fuß ist das allerdings nicht Gang und Gebe, da ja die Rümpfe deutlich schmaler sind als der eines Monos. Wir haben während des Beginns der reiseunfreundlichsten Zeit der letzten Jahrzehnte den Markt auf den Kopf gestellt und viele Kontakte spielen lassen, um den richtigen Kat zu finden. Sogar Julia und Markus von @SailingInsieme sind dabei! Es gibt übrigens einen klaren Favoriten und das ist der Lagoon 420, der scheint nämlich alle Anforderungen der beiden zu erfüllen. Dann geschah das Undenkbare: im Ankermanöver im Südwesten vor Guadeloupe haben wir den Backbordpropeller inkl. Ropecutter verloren. ▬ Über diesen Film ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ Auf den Yanmar SD 60 Saildrives unseres Katamarans Lagoon 40 MariaNoa sind je ein Flex-O-Fold Faltpropeller montiert. Zusätzlich hatten wir vor der Erstwasserung so genannte Ropestripper von Ambassador Marine England montieren lassen. Da diese Montage mangelhaft war, kam es am Steuerbord-Saildrive vor Barbados zum Schaden, sodass der Faltpropeller demontiert werden musste. Auch die Anoden waren so verbraucht, dass die Demontage notwendig wurde. Bei diesem Propellermodell ist es nicht möglich die Anoden ohne Demontage der Propeller zu tauschen. MariaNoa wurde auf Land gesetzt und bei dieser Gelegenheit durch eine Fachfirma das Antifouling erneuert. Die De- sowie die Remontage der Propeller wollte ich unbedingt selbst durchführen, da ich der Ursache des Schadens auf den Grund gehen wollte. 3 Monate später: Unser kleiner Technikfilm über die Montage der Ropecutter und Propeller war bereits fertiggestellt und zur Veröffentlichung bei YouTube hochgeladen. Dann geschah das Undenkbare: im Ankermanöver vor der Marina Riviere Sens im Südwesten vor Guadeloupe haben wir den Backbordpropeller inkl. Ropecutter verloren. LEMOLO has been a labor-of-love love-project of mine for the last 10 years. After an engine rebuild, a new rig, and years of daysailing, this old girl is ready for an owner to take her on an adventure. I have all of the parts needed to make this a world cruising yacht, including a watermaker, auto-pilot, and more. This boat is nearly original in that no Frankenstein cuts have been made anywhere on the boat to install any modern components. The original Loran Receiver is still installed. No electronics on this classic bluewater cruiser. I have hundreds of paper charts to cover the world. All wood in this vessel is teak or holly. All metals for componentry are marine-grade bronze. The engine is a fresh water-cooled 3-cylinder BMW D-50 Diesel inboard. The engine runs great and sounds well, but needs to be professionally tuned by a diesel mechanic. The teak veneer decks have worn out and do not leak, but need to be replaced for cosmetic purposes. The hull is solid and does not leak any water, but some blisters ultimately need to be addressed for the longevity of the vessel. Easy restoral, then cruise the world in comfort and style.
