The marina takes on a different persona when the sun stays low and the cold winds start to blow. I went to check on “Moments in Time” during the winter solstice. The boats on the hard were whistling in the wind, the sounds of laughter and tinking of drinks from the pool area had long departed, droning of harbor traffic remained eerily silent, and the lapping of waves had become more pronounced. Our new cruising yacht Viator Explorer 42 DS has 2x10KW electric motors as propulsion. Those motors can be used as hydrogenerators when sailing. We are testing this feature in this short video. The maximum output is about 21A, which equals about 1KW. But it is still very volatile, so we have to optimize the regeneration process.
