This was my reaction to the first attempt at launching Freddie, after over a week of waiting past the day we were told we would be launched… We put our lives on hold to get her ready and to show up for this, not to mention getting our hopes way up that we would finally see her off land and back where she belongs, in the water… My heart was hurting and I felt frustrated… but tried to focus on positives. On the Monday and Tuesday before Ash Wednesday the dual island nation of Trinidad & Tobago celebrates their annual Carnival! There was a huge lead up with many fetes and celebrations, as well as national stick fighting and steel pan competitions. Carnival Monday starts with Jouvert and Carnival Tuesday is largely about the Mas Parade. We went into Port of Spain to see this highly anticipated event for ourselves, going to the Socadrome and parade route along Arapita Avenue.
