Before we bought Adhara and became liveaboards we went on a sailing charter in Lanzarote for a week to try out if we could imagine living on a sailboat and how I’d feel about sailing in general. We did that in November of 2019 and a funny story about it is that I absolutely hated the first day! 😆 I couldn’t imagine why someone would actually enjoy sailing. I was scared, I got wet, I was freezing and I felt seasick for 6 hours straight and had no clue what a sheet is and what wind angle means. Apparent or true wind… wait, what? You guys can’t imagine the disappointment in Jans's eyes when I told him „no way in hell are we doing that“ 😂 Spoiler: the story has a good ending 😉 The second day we had the most beautiful weather and sailed around La Graciosa and Montaña Clara. I fell in love with the otherworldly landscape and raw beauty of these islands and enjoyed the gentle Atlantic swell, the idea of sailing as a means to explore this beautiful world we live on grew on me! This 2018 model Quicksilver Activ 555 Cabin is the perfect day boat, featuring a social cockpit layout and a cuddy cabin for overnight stays. It is equipped with a Mariner F60 outboard engine with 81 hours registered on the last service in July 2022, with very little use since. The boat has had two owners from new and has only been used on the River Thames. Antifoul was last done in July 2022. A River Thames boat licence is in place until 2025.
