Before we bought Adhara and became liveaboards we went on a sailing charter in Lanzarote for a week to try out if we could imagine living on a sailboat and how I’d feel about sailing in general. We did that in November of 2019 and a funny story about it is that I absolutely hated the first day! 😆 I couldn’t imagine why someone would actually enjoy sailing. I was scared, I got wet, I was freezing and I felt seasick for 6 hours straight and had no clue what a sheet is and what wind angle means. Apparent or true wind… wait, what? You guys can’t imagine the disappointment in Jans's eyes when I told him „no way in hell are we doing that“ 😂 Spoiler: the story has a good ending 😉 The second day we had the most beautiful weather and sailed around La Graciosa and Montaña Clara. I fell in love with the otherworldly landscape and raw beauty of these islands and enjoyed the gentle Atlantic swell, the idea of sailing as a means to explore this beautiful world we live on grew on me! Manchas was a patient I diagnosed with a hip dislocation in the boat access community of San Evaristo. Unfortunately it had been sometime since the incident, and so the hope of 'popping it back in' no longer existed. In a normal situation we would do surgery to fix it, but out here that wasn't an option, so we are going to see if we can manage it medically with pain relief and exercise/physical therapy. #doghealth #dogsurgery #dogshorts #vetvisit #vetmed
