Before we bought Adhara and became liveaboards we went on a sailing charter in Lanzarote for a week to try out if we could imagine living on a sailboat and how I’d feel about sailing in general. We did that in November of 2019 and a funny story about it is that I absolutely hated the first day! 😆 I couldn’t imagine why someone would actually enjoy sailing. I was scared, I got wet, I was freezing and I felt seasick for 6 hours straight and had no clue what a sheet is and what wind angle means. Apparent or true wind… wait, what? You guys can’t imagine the disappointment in Jans's eyes when I told him „no way in hell are we doing that“ 😂 Spoiler: the story has a good ending 😉 The second day we had the most beautiful weather and sailed around La Graciosa and Montaña Clara. I fell in love with the otherworldly landscape and raw beauty of these islands and enjoyed the gentle Atlantic swell, the idea of sailing as a means to explore this beautiful world we live on grew on me! The idea for Sunset Sailing Tours came June 2nd 2019 20pm at Cais do Sodré, Lisboa, Portugal. Sailboats went back and forth at the harbor full of people. I could do that also! But not going back and forth at the harbor. I would do it with style sailing around the city or trips to islands.

Wobbegong sharks are a highlight of any scuba diving liveaboard cruise to Raja Ampat in Indonesia. Usually they are found lying under coral heads or inside crevices. But sometimes you get lucky and they have found somewhere to rest, completely out in the open. This one was in a particularly funny position. It doesn't look so comfortable to us, what do you think?!
