Before we bought Adhara and became liveaboards we went on a sailing charter in Lanzarote for a week to try out if we could imagine living on a sailboat and how I’d feel about sailing in general. We did that in November of 2019 and a funny story about it is that I absolutely hated the first day! 😆 I couldn’t imagine why someone would actually enjoy sailing. I was scared, I got wet, I was freezing and I felt seasick for 6 hours straight and had no clue what a sheet is and what wind angle means. Apparent or true wind… wait, what? You guys can’t imagine the disappointment in Jans's eyes when I told him „no way in hell are we doing that“ 😂 Spoiler: the story has a good ending 😉 The second day we had the most beautiful weather and sailed around La Graciosa and Montaña Clara. I fell in love with the otherworldly landscape and raw beauty of these islands and enjoyed the gentle Atlantic swell, the idea of sailing as a means to explore this beautiful world we live on grew on me! He had accommodations set up for us for the evening or two that we spent kind of getting to getting uh getting our stuff situated before we went drove all the way up to the boat. He took us all the way up to Punat by Kirk and we were able to get us rooms there set up. We got onto the boat. He helped us do a quick walk through on the boat. Get familiar with everything. Find anything. Any other questions that we had. So then we did a bunch of maintenance and a bunch of cleanup and he really just walked us through each step. Of hey let's check this out. Oh I don't really like that. Let's work. Marine store runs. Shopping. Provisioning. We wanted to do all that with him. So he went with us and kind of pointed out.
