This week we skipped our weekly video as we have been busy with home renovations and simply lack of sailing. However, we never miss an opportunity to embrace natures beauty, this time in the form of a common dolphin family swimming by our anchorage. Two of the four adults had younglings with them, who they seem to be teaching. Pretty cool to spot them by your front door ! Nature is awesome and nature needs us as much as we need it ! Perhaps modern technology will and already is able to show us the incredible similarities we all share, the complex social behaviours and interactions, the meaning of family and so much more :) Ps. Power catamarans have twin engines. That makes them much safer than a conventional single engined powerboat. It also makes them very manouverable. Here I am turning our Skoota 28 in circles without using the steering wheel. You can see the engines are in line, turning is achieved by putting one engine in reverse, the other in forward gear I'm not very good at it yet! In part because the engine thrust in forward is much greater than in reverse, (because the exhaust goes through the propeller), so the throttle in forward needs a delicate touch You can build your own Skoota 28 in plywood from plans by Woods Designs, see more at www.sailingcatamarans.com
