There comes a time in every cruiser's life where they will eventually face the need to replace their cutlass bearings. We've dropped our rudders, taken the props off (BYE BYE!), and the shafts out. The shafts are really important not to damage, scratch or knick in way away so both shafts have been cradled like precious babies and stored in a safe, secure area on cushioning. Once all of that was done, it was time to get the Cutlass Bearings out. One of the most intimidating things for sailors and boaters pulling into Fort Lauderdale for the first time is dealing with the network of opening bridges on the Intracoastal Waterway. In Fort Lauderdale and the surrounding areas on the ICW the bridges open on a schedule with a request over the VHF radio. They monitor channel 9, and open every thirty minutes upon request.
