Will this 'CHEAP CAR STUFF' work on MY BOAT?

Will using the T-cut and Auto Glym work on restoring my sailing boat's hull? There are many scratches, some going through the gel coat (or clear coat as they say with cars) This was my first time trying anything like this, So I wasn't sure what to expect, And the verdict at first was... Average, However later on I was pleased at how well it sorted out the badly damaged areas.
