What happens when a critical piece of your ground tackle disappears… mid-cruise? When the pin from our Kong chain gripper went overboard, we were forced to rethink everything about how we attach our anchor bridle on our catamaran. What started as a problem quickly turned into a full-on experiment. In this video, we test three different chain hook solutions—including one we never expected to trust—and put them through real-world conditions. ⚓ What we cover: --Why we abandoned our original setup --Out opinion of each chain hook we either considered or have used -- Underwater footage of the new system in action -- How it held up after 6+ weeks of anchoring -- Performance during a couple of serious blows -- The surprising solution that became our new go-to We also dive into an equally important upgrade: How we’ve changed the way we moor to mooring balls A simple but critical improvement to reduce stress on the catamaran crossbeam Why our old method made us uncomfortable (and what we do now instead) Sometimes the best upgrades don’t come from planning—they come from necessity. And yes… we may have replaced part of our ground tackle… with plastic. 👇 Let us know what you’re using for your bridle setup—especially if you’ve tested alternatives! #SailingLife #Catamaran #Anchoring #Liveaboard #CruisingLife #SailingGear #BoatLife #WhileOne
